CM13 Running Unusually Slow

Hi, I've been running CM13 (holding out on 14 until it gets more updates) for a few weeks and it was running smoothly until a few days ago when some apps started to act up. Instagram takes forever to load, crashes often, and so does the CM theme chooser. Most of my other apps experience the loading problems too. I suspect it may have something to do with a theme I had that changed the appearance of certain apps that may have been removed incorrectly due to attempting to install a DIY theme. I tried clearing data for CM theme engine, plus reflashing system partition. Reinstalling Instagram didn't work so I doubt it will for the other apps. Suggestions?

boot into safe mode, if it runs fine, then it's something you did or added (possibly deleted, unlikely) to your phone.

Turn on and use safe mode
Turn the device off.
Press and hold the Power key.
When 'Samsung Galaxy S5' appears on the screen, release the Power key.
Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.

Then one by one start deleting stuff till you find the culprit.

if that doesn't work, run tibu of system and user data (just in case), make a nandroid (always do this before flashing), wipe dalvik/ART cache, system, data, and cache and simply start over. you could try skipping the user data (which is referred to as a dirty flash), but the problem most likely lies with in your user data somewhere.

Good luck

Thanks for the reply but the time of reading I've already switched to the stock S5 rom because I've upgraded and given the phone to my sister. Thanks again though, idk why I didn't think of that myself.
