CM7 Q&A

I say list your questions. You are in the right place to ask questions, so ask away. Heck, I might have the same question but forgot to ask it myself.

Just make sure you have searched the forums thoroughly before posting a blatant repeat question. That will get a less than warm reception. :)
It's pretty basic stuff. I've found all the good stuff on how to update it safely. I just need to narrow it down to a build. Based on what I've read, a CM7 build will suit me...there are a lot of those, though...which one?

What I'm looking for:
Pure Android.
Will support my AT&T Atrix (obviously) 4G that I've unlocked and run on T-mobile pre-paid.
Fast.
Sturdy build.
Supports MMS, txt, calls, Google Apps, biometric...
I'd like to give ICS a try but choosing between that and reliability, I'll take reliability. It doesn't have to be 100% but it'll be my daily driver for work, etc...so I won't expect an ICS recommendation.

That's about it. I just want this AT&T & Motorola garbage GONE. Pure Android, if possible, please.

On CM7 Nightly(20/04), light sensor does not react instantly.

I am setting backlight manually. Is there a solution for this problem?
You mean the auto-dim function isn't working? Aside from that, since I don't use it anyway, are you having any other probs with it? I'm trying to choose a build.

Auto-dim working but it doesnt responds instantly. Responds a little later. (For me)

The last nightly(20/04) is good. I dont have any problems (Except auto-dim)

I have a question that I'm still trying to get answered:

I'm trying to install the cm7 mod, but I have yet to unlock my bootloader. I'm currently running 2.3.6( 4.5.141) on my ATT Atrix and have not been able to find any clear instructions on how to do that. I tried using this:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1182871

but it only goes up to the previous version. I've heard reports that it works, but I don't want to take any chances since I don't know what I'm doing really since this is my first time.

If the phone was recently purchased or repaired by Motorola, your problem may be described in the link below.

For those who are using CM7RC2 or the last nightly with N_01.100.00R and have a low battery life, a solution to this problem is by replacing N_01.100.00R with N_01.77.36P.
It worked perfectly for me.
Truly increased my battery's life.

You want the official CM7 stable. The other versions are release candidates (RC), which are "stable" but not final. I used it for quite some time before I switched to ICS. I like it a lot. Way better than stock with no bloatware.

Somewhere in the US
I have been trying different ROms that is based off CM 7.2 like Neutrino v8. They are all great, stable, and extremely fast, especially playing heavy games. However, i m using Yahoo Messenger quite a lot because i have family overseas, these Cm 7.2 roms don't enable the video call function. It has a sound bug when someone calls me thru YM. Is there a fix for that on CM7.2?

So. Fla.
Is there any way to set wifi to turn off for a specific period of time (overnight for example)? Blur has a setting that would turn wifi off and on automatically but I can't find a similar setting on CM7.

Thanks in advance.

Receiving calls issue

Has any one else had an issue with not receiving calls from certain numbers?

I don't think it's necessarily a CM7 issue since it worked fine for about a month after I rooted, etc. But there are certain people who are unable to call me, in that, it rings on their end but my phone shows no indication that the call is getting through. Just to see if it made a difference I even blocked them to send their call straight to voicemail, but when they called me it still rang on their end. I can receive SMS from them fine, and I can make calls to them fine.

For reference, both phones have service from AT&T and I can receive calls from people with the same phone (iPhone 4S) without issue.

What is odd is that when I'm in my car connected through bluetooth to uconnect, the phone receives the call (caller ID pops up and everything) and I can talk to them fine. However, if I check my phone's call log afterwards, there's no record of the phone call ever happening.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Solved

Hello,
I have searched this forum and the developers forum and I have not been able to find out if the stable version of CM7 has the famous "bluesleep" fix. Thanks in advance!
I will answer my own question. I used CPU spy and my Atrix never went into deep sleep in a 24hr period. I installed the bluesleep_fix.zip file and now it goes into deep sleep. So, it appears the stable CM7 does NOT have the bluesleep fix......

By the way, I have great battery life now. I seldom use my phone for more than a few minutes a day. My wifi is always on and I am syncing as well. I easily get over 3.5 days with 29% left before I recharged. I am VERY happy with the battery life now. Reminds me of my old Nokia E71 :)

You use The last release of cm7 stable? And have to install The fix?

I think my wifi dont sleep too.....
Yes I installed the stable cm7 version and the bluesleep fix was not there. I installed CPU spy and my phone never went into deep sleep mode. I then "installed" the bluesleep fix and now my phone practically lives in deep sleep mode. Keep in mind I do not use my phone that much. By the way, my understanding is the bluesleep fix is just a permissions change on some files. Try it. You'll like it! :)
