MB860 is Atrix 4G...

AT&T or not has nothing to do with CM7 availability.
Great news for me, then! :)

I still don't understand why Gsmarena has 2 Atrix pages, though:
1)Motorola ATRIX (MB860?)
http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_atrix-3709.php
2)Motorola ATRIX 4G "For AT&T - Also known as Motorola ATRIX 4G MB860"
http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_atrix_4g-3708.php

Anyway, i'm glad to see that i can use the informations in xda and CM7 is available to this Atrix. I will install "cm-7.2.0-olympus.zip" ASAP.

Thanks for your reply and info. :good:

Hi,

I have a relative's Atrix MB860 (not 4G) now and have to install a newer and more stable Rom than the stock Android v2.3.4. I still use CM7.2 on my ancient Huawei Ideos X5, and know how stable it is, although quite outdated.

So i started to search how to install CM7.2 on this Atrix, but i'm confused. All the topics here are related to AT&T 4G, and i couldn't find a section for this non-4G Atrix. And also in cyanogenmod.org site, Atrix 4G is mentioned everywhere:

http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Olympus_Info

This phone was bought from a local dealer in Turkey, and used as is for more than 2 years and never updated AFAIK. Here is the information about it:

Motorola Atrix (NOT AT&T or 4G)
45.31.0.MB860.Retail.en.TR
MB860
Android 2.3.4
2.6.32.9

Is it possible to install CM7.2 to this device? If so, where should i start?

PS: I must install a stable Rom to this Atrix and give it back ASAP, so i don't have much time to research and try for the most appropriate solution.

Thanks in advance.
MB860 is Atrix 4G. Most ROMs are stable. Just follow directions and we'll help you from there

Since i had limited time, i couldn't search for other alternatives. I installed the latest stable CM7.2 (cm-7.2.0-olympus.zip) to this Atrix yesterday and gave it back to the owner. These 2 links helped much in flashing CM7, fortunately I had no trouble :

That would be the latest officially supported CM release. There are others for 4.0 and up, but they are unofficial releases, but work just as good as official releases.

If it was my own Atrix, i would try newer CM releases although they are unofficial. But i didn't want to take a risk of installing probably a little less stable release or a version with a malfunctioning hardware like a Bluetooth, GPS, etc. And i didn't have enough time to try, examine these newer releases as well.

I heard that my relative is happy with the brand-new stable CM7.2 now and is surprised with some of the extra features that CM offers. :)

The growing number of apps that doesn't support Gingerbread and require Android v4.x (and newer) versions is still the major problem unfortunately. I'm still using CM7.2 on my Huawei Ideos X5 and this problem drives me crazy.

Thanks for the advises. :good:

CM7/GB is essentially a dead OS, with its numbers dwindling constantly. It was good, but once the 4.0 came out, it started to become obsolete. Currently 4.1, 4.2, and 4.4 are the dominating OS versions. I recommend going with one of those (CM10, 10.1, and 11). Based off of development for this device, I would recommend CM10.1 or CM11.

I'm almost sure that there are a lot of unofficial versions based on CM10, CM10.1, and CM11. This variety is great, of course. But generally every single Rom has a little bug, so every Rom should be examined carefully to fit one's needs.

I would be very happy if there were official stable CM10, CM10.1, and CM11s for Atrix and also Ideos X5. I was very disappointed when i realized that the latest official CM is CM7 for Atrix.

Frankly i'm a fan of Atrix, and Motorola in general. If i get this Atrix again, but as a backup phone this time, i will try newer Roms since i will have time for that. Then, i will bother some of you for your advises. :D

Anyway, i appreciate all developers and contributors! The effort is awesome, thanks for all! :good:

I'm back, as promised before. :D (Please take a look at my previous posts above!)

I have the Atrix as a backup phone now, since the owner replaced it with a Samsung. So from now on i have time to play with it. I want to explore this ancient monster device and install a stable, yet more recent Rom to it. If i can find a Rom that suits my needs, i can use Atrix for several months, or maybe a family member can use it till it dies.

Official CM7.2 is on and running on this Atrix which i installed on February. It's great, very stable, and all the necessary hardware is operable. But as i mentioned before CM7.2 is too old for some of the applications. Every other day i need and come across more applications that need Android versions v4.0x, v4.1.x, v4.2.x and v4.4.x at least. (I haven't encountered any app that needs v5.x yet but maybe we can see at near future.)

I don't care the newest or polished Roms, I just want a stable, rock solid CM based Rom. Just like CM7.2, but a newer version. (If only there was an official CM10 or up :( )

I need your advises now , please share. I'm researching the development section meanwhile, thanks in advance.

CM dropped official support due to kernel stability issues. I remember we were discussing ROMs. 7.2 was, according to CM, the last stable version. Due to all the changes when everything became 4.0, the kernel became unstable on our device. Our devs have created a kernel that is stable enough for daily use, but not stable enough for an official CM. You do have CM9, 10, 10.1, 10.2, and 11 that are stable. CM12 needs work before being recommended for daily use.
