I re-downloaded the file and check the MD5 values on the SD-card - they match. There is nothing wrong with this status of .zip file.

What are you using to falsh it with?. As I said - I used TWRP 2.8.7.0 - maybe that is the problem??

Ideas are welcome, as I would HATE to goto the stock rom and not have root.....:(
Hi. The version of TWRP I'm using is 2.8.6.0. Maybe try that one. Also, I'm on the same kernel that is used with the Note 4 port. You might try that one if you are not using it and not having any luck. There is a link for it in the Note 4 port thread. Hope that helps!

EDIT: Shouldn't have anything to do with the kernel. Hope the other version of TWRP works...

Hi TEKHD. I can confirm, as reported earlier, that wifi password is not sticking upon reboot.

That's easy... since it is stock... build.prop is also stock...

Manually:

you need to modify this line in build.prop...

near the bottom:

ro.securestorage.support=true

change to:

ro.securestorage.support=false

Voila...

Automatic:

here: (added to OP)

Build.prop edit for the included Kernel (Wifi Passwords not sticking)

Still no Luck ....

Nope - it did not work....I still get the same "Zip verification error' even when using 2.8.6.0- no matter what I tried. I did forget to mention something else: I was on the latest Columbia (2BOK1) rom (5.0.2) and then I tried to flash back to (BOH2) or even BOD7 - but it all fail.

So I was forced to not go backward, but forward. SO I ODIN flushed the official 5.1.1 - it worked. At least I have a phone again.

Then I managed to flash TWRP 2.8.7.0 and that seemed to work fine. - I have TWRP recovery. I reboot immediately into recovery before going into the OS and flashed CFAutoroot 2.52.
My phone boots, past the Samsung screen, gets to the T-Mobile screen - I hear the Jingle tone and then it boot-loops.

Now what? Ideas? I think the Kernel is detecting that I am trying to apply Root, when its not Permissive - how can I get a custom working Kernel for this rom that is Permissive? I had the same problem and similar behavior trying to root my Tab S2 coming from 5.0.x to 5.1.1

Anyone willing to help make this kernel permissive so we can flash it with ODIN?

Edit: I guess we'll have to wait till Sammy bring out the sourcecode before someone can dig into the Kernel, correct?
Darn, I hate to be stuck without root and all this crapware on the phone!

Thanks.

bert269, did you try the Emotion kernel? It should work with this rom

Since I can boot into TWRP - I have not tried to flash anything else than CFAUTORoot with it (which placed it in a bootloop and I had to re-Odin to get a working phone). I did manage to make a backup of 5.1.1 (but I have not tried to restore a backup, yet) since i need my phone today.

Nope, I have not tried to flash it yet. How do I flash this .jar file? Can I flash it with TWRP?

EDIT: Hmmm - I tried to download this on my phone, but discovered it downloaded a .jar file (WEIRD!) - I'll try again at home from my PC tonight (my work blocks mediafire downloads) and see if I can get to the .zip file and then try to flash it with TWRP.

Appreciated.

Appreciate the "Thanks" in your post but I would prefer if instead you hit the thanks button. They're kind like life points! Just kidding! lol

Something interesting. I just ran a TWRP backup and had everything selected.
It failed trying to backup the Cache. Not serious - was just wondering why ?
You know, I ran into something similar when I tried to run a lollipop rom on top of kitkat. Nothing really worked properly until I fully odined lollipop and went through all the usual steps of adding TWRP and rooting.

Feature wake up the edge screen when phone locked (swipe the Edge green left then right) is dead.
Confirmed, same issue here. Otherwise thanks so much this helped me get unbricked from trying to flash supersu since the Note 4 root method doesn't seem to work well for this and I don't want to modify my Kernel. (Trying to do so ended up in failure) lol

Would appreciate a fix for the rub of the edge screen to wake the edge being dead

Many thanks to TEKHD!!

The problem is the custom kernel does not support guesture to wake up the edge screen
Hopping some Dev can root 5.1.1 without to use the custom kernel

No Data on T-Mobile

The problem is the custom kernel does not support guesture to wake up the edge screen
Hopping some Dev can root 5.1.1 without to use the custom kernel
I flashed this Kernel last night, and rooted afterwards, while on a WiFi connection - everything worked fine.
Never thinking of turning of WiFi and test.....well, this morning after I left the house I discovered that the Data connection is dead - NO DATA! I have a strong signal - but no data.

Edit: Well - it appears that the Data signal is lost (it does not show).
Although I can send txt, I cannot get on the internet
I also applied the Wifi password save fix by editing the Build.prop - let me revert that back, reboot and see if that is part of the problem

hmmmmmm. Am I the only one?
Should I reflash the 5.1.1 modem again through Odin?

Darn the whole day in the office without data is going to drive me up the wall.....
My mistake - I should have tested properly before I left the house!

I think you should flash the new firmware cok 2 with odin(remember when you flash cok2 you will never come back again 5.0.1 anymore)
Wait untill phone boot
Then flash recovery, and flash zip file of TEKHD
