Sorry for this dumb question, but I'm new on HTC and a little confused:

My version is 1.27.401.11. Currently I'm on stock nougat with unlocked bootloader, S-ON (?, didn't tangle with that), TWRP and Magisk 15.2.
I want to flash the new firmware via TWRP, will it be sufficient to use the Signed_firmware_from_OTA_2.33.401.10 file to update to Oreo? Afaik it's not good to flash the whole 1.3GB file with TWRP. Will this wipe my data?

Edit: Looking at the size of the firmware file (105 MB) I guess this won't work...

You have the RUU file for this 2.33.401.10 plz?

Please provide more information. Post a getvar all output from download mode and erase IMEI and serial number. This might help to check what the problem is and give us a hint to provide a possible solution.

Further more please don't quote the whole OP. It's all right just mentioning me as I'll get a notification as well.

Thanks and best regards

What's the problem of doing what I ask. Take a getvar all via fastboot please. I need additional information such as device variant.

Seems as ifyou need to run 1.27.401.12 RUU and then take the OTA to Oreo. Can't tell for sure, as I'm missing some informations on the exact device variant, as I said above.

Added Untouched TWRP Backup 2.42.709.1 in my previous post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75146685&postcount=1208

@ gokhanknc1, I guess you had custom TWRP recovery and locked bootloader. If so, flash this signed firmware https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=962021903579492358 with extSD card method as like as RUU.
Are you using TWRP 3.2.1-0-ocn for the 2.42 backup?
I flashed 1.28.709.33 RUU today, and took OTAs to 2.31 then 2.42. However when I fastboot boot TWRP, a black screen appeared after the bootloader unlock warning screen, and just stuck there. At that screen fastboot commands still work.
My phone was converted from dtwl and that could be a reason. Also current TWRP is based on 2.31 kernel and I'm not sure if that affects.

Yes. My signature is correct... from what I am using.
But TWRP doesn't touch any fastboot commands. I use fastboot.exe v3.0.9.2. You can always check witch kind of commands are available by: >fastboot.exe -h

On a different subject... Could you please make a picture of your screen in Download mode and show here ? Noting wrong, just for my collection to have a converted OCEAN_DTWL screen.
Thank you.

I was using fastboot.exe from platform tools so that shouldn't be an issue. Plus that worked all the time (on my devices and friends' devices) until now (or probably cuz I sent it back to fix rear cam? Doesn't make sense.)
Anyway flashing TWRP in download mode still works, and thx for the stock rec I can easily go back.
I guess the only way to tell if it's converted is by serial or imei?
Code:
fastboot getvar all
(bootloader) kernel: lk
(bootloader) product: htc_ocndugl
(bootloader) version: 1.0
(bootloader) max-download-size: 2399200000
[STRIKE](bootloader) serialno: [/STRIKE]
(bootloader) slot-count: 0
(bootloader) current-slot:
[STRIKE](bootloader) imei: [/STRIKE]
(bootloader) version-main: 2.42.709.1
(bootloader) boot-mode: download
(bootloader) version-baseband: 8998-002772-1711161638
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.0.0.0000
(bootloader) mid: 2PZC30000
(bootloader) cid: HTC__621

why was the ruu only for us devices released? first time to update taiwan's ruu when do you play?
What do you mean. US RUUs are the only one that get officially released as soon as the OTA roll-out starts. All other RUU mostly leak on some payed service pages, and are shred by some of the community. Patience is important. And some RUUs even might never leak.

China Oreo update 2.47.1405.2

Anyone here got a link to the China Oreo Update (2.47.1405.2) by any chance?

I'd be happy about a RUU, or a stock System, Boot, Kernel and Firmware older than this, plus the respective OTA file.

Any chinese people here who could get to that stuff? Not easy to get into chinese internet from where I am.

So the question is why just US get RUU.exe right away? Are we have different device? Or our fault is we live in another country not US? . I hate this differentiation by companies, most of them like this.

HTC USA is the only part of HTC that provides RUUs for download to their customers. No other part of the brand does. All others always got to hope it'll get leaked.

That has been discussed like a million times in the past. HTC US is a pretty separate business with their own rules and also a different legislation that is applicable then.
In the US, HTC Is required to provide those update packages for customers to access them freely. Not so much in any other region of this planet.
Also, the US has long been HTCs biggest market and americans have different expectations when it comes to service.
Actually, there is a multitude of reasons.
