While I have benefited from rooting the Nook HD+ and as a result, I like it as far as if goes, I find it difficult to pick the Nook over Nexus 7 which I also have. The performance of the Nexus 7 Wi-Fi seems to be far superior. My WiFi router is in the basement and I have set up a repeater and a range extender up on the second floor. The Nexus 7WiFi receiver recognizes all the three signals though the signal from the basement is the weakest and I am able to connect with any one of the three. When I analyze the signals on the Nook HD+, it shows a really strong signal from the basement transmitter, very weak one from the repeater and a middling one from the extender. However I get no internet connection. I cannot tell if it is strictly WiFi receiver issue or because of my setup. But performance on the first floor is very good and not significantly different from Nexus 7.
I like the Nook for the screen size and the SD card storage, but in my opinion, WiFi is a weak or weaker feature.
Any other thoughts?
