The HD version has always been "optimized" for tablets. I don't think that a version change from 3.002 to 3.003 has brought much a change. At least from what I've seen there isn't much of a difference.

Was there a HD version?

Well the point is that it's officially for Honeycomb now. And yeah, besides some UI changes for Honeycomb and Desktop Sync, nothing much else except for bug fixes.

Maybe I missed it but anyone notice a glaring omission to all of these apps? The lack of a spell check, its a big deal (at least for me) and i'm surprised it has been left out. Even my BB has one!

i agree spell check is HUGE!!! Name any word processor that doesn't have it? Even my firefox web browser has it as part of a add on. Its part of the various keyboard programs so how had could it be to add it to a office suite really. The spell check on the keyboard for writing doc is a nightmare. There's so many times itmiss or it you miss a space its completely worthless. Youneed to be able to go back and correct a entire document etc...

Has any of you tried a 3rd party app for spell check? I searched the market and there are several apps that claim to be spell checkers but I have no idea if they are working in the background and correct in other apps or if you have to type in the app and then copy&paste the text into your word processor.

show mathematical simbols? like integrals or derivates or logs you know things about calculus of university
I just checked. NONE of the Office apps will recognize the MS Equation Object :( I guess the best work-around is to insert it as a metafile object... It will most likely never be an editable object.

True Google Docs sync?

I understand these apps can link to Google Docs, but do any of them allow real-time editing? I tried Polaris on my friend's EeePad, and it downloads a copy of the online file for local editing, which kinda sucks (I need to have 2 or more people working on the same spreadsheet, in real time, for which desktop Gdocs rox my sox). The official Gdocs app is kinda clunky (more or less just an interface for the mobile web-based one), so does anyone have experience with this?

You need to push some files to /system/lib and the .apk to /system/app and set their permissions for it to work properly. The two files were floating around the Xoom forum here somewhere, try a search. I can confirm they work fine after the procedure (I was getting forcecloses before too when trying to open/create a new document)

sorry newbie question

do i need to root my device to push tose files to system/lib folder ??

and if i root my xoom will i still be able to get 3.1 uk update when available ??

any good instructions for rooting UK wifi only xoom ?

Picsel SmartOffice got updated!

Picsel SmartOffice has been update to version 1.7.0. The improvements look good and I hope to update the changes soon!

For now the Google Docs and DropBox integration appear to be the most important improvements. The website lists the following changes:

★ Send and receive email attachments.
★ Create and delete files in storage.
★ Google Docs file sharing for some files, beta
★ Slide show presentation
★ Many other improvements
This looks exciting! If nothing else, kudos to the developers to keep working on and improving their Android apps!

So, I sat down with my brand new Moto Bluetooth keyboard and fired up QuickOffice HD for some Google Doc editing.

Tab doesn't work.

Really?

Nice comparison... but still prefer quickoffice pro hd... coz more handy
I just got Office Suite Pro and I love it! I have gotten all of the other office suite apps listed here and they all do some things well and others not so well. This product looks and acts most like MS Office and has an easier interface to use and some really nice features. Check it out 30 days for free.

I hope one of these office apps will support moving pictures around that are inserted into an Excel spreadsheet when created on pc. Once I can do that, my laptop has seen its last days...
