Wow! BB Froyo 157 gave me 12 hours of life from 100%-0% I can't believe how all of you get so much battery life! I'm back on WIUI and I get 18 hours from full to zero now.
lol not sure but somehow i feel that the rom suits according to the original hardware aspects ... every rom isnt for everybody... to be frank i used almost all the roms .... max to max i used to get 24 hrs backup... to be frank on barebones now its 36 hours running on standby.... havent used it much ..... but although with the same usage i barely used to get around 24-30 hours .....

kevin_diu, thanks for the answer, I was wondering on this kind of relation between them...
Wouldn't it be possible to get the same shell as MIUI while using CM7?

joydeep1985, that is really incredible if you get that much battery from this smartphone. How's the performance on it?
I just don't get the sim issue, what is that?
used the Miui as well as CM7 .... but somehow it didnt suite me ..... to be frank there have been some nightly builds which confirm to have a really awsome battery...... but others are screwed... regarding the performance ...... i havent tested it as wel as now .... but i guess all should work fine.... i dont use 3G only 2G as of now ... but quite a number of users have reported that the battery on 3G as wel is good on barebones .... gaming and camera are normal .. i played angry birds .... for 10 minutes.... no lagg ..... if u want evn more .. u can undervolt or overclock according to ur need in bootmenu :)... enablng all the modules :) .... that might sound great for ur need :p

I hope so :D MIUI is close source project so no way to port MIUI to CM7.
For me BB1.5.1 is the best barebones version. You guys must try it :D Now I will go back to CM7 to see weather the battery life is as good as reported from the thread.

I've been watching videos about MIUI, it seems like quite an improvement on the overall using experience.

Some people here have said that it is outdated to CM7 concerning to bug fixes... is it something I should bother with? I don't know which are those bugs and how they impact on the usage.

I'm thinking on going for one of this enhanced ROMs (MIUI or CM7) and then, if I get too little battery autonomy, going for a minimalistic one like barebones...

BareBones 1.5 was the first ROM I flashed and then it was CM7 and lately MIUI specifically WIUI. But nothing gave me more battery life than 12-18 hours (100-0)
but I'm gonna try BB1.5 again and see how it goes. Will keep you all posted. Cheerio!

For those who all are looking for better battery backup.... there are two roms in my opinion...

1. MS2ginger by Walter
2. Barebones 1.5

Note : For barebones please use the original sbf of Sea-15 ... cause i am using the Sea-15 as my base for my barebones .. if someone uses nordic , or frech or CEE .... i wont b sure abt the confirmation if it gives such a drastic platform battery backup.....

so people who are looking for barebones flash with Sea-15 original SBF first and then root it and then flash with barebones WITHOUT WIPING... thats the very important point in flashing barebones ...YOU SHOULD NOT WIPE BEFORE FLASHING BAREBONES.... well thats how i did... good luckwith people with barebones or MS2 ginger

Is the battery destroy? Have you tried baseband switcher? BB1.5.1 is base on 3.4.2-177-005 so you must flash it WITH FULL WIPE to see if it help.

Well and some other noob question: How easy is to exchange between different ROMs??

Let's say that I'm using CM7 and I want to try MIUI... and then tryout barebones or MS2Ginger...
Is it just to wipe the data on 2ndInit menu and install other ROM zip file? Or that's just for ROMs from the same bloodline?

Sorry to ask that many questions, that's just because I want to find the better ROM for me and then don't bother with it, just use and enjoy my Defy :p

I'm beginning to think the same Kevin, with my battery performance in the midst of all these marathon runners at 1/2/3/4 days! I'm gonna get me of them 3500mh batteries off ebay :D

Till then I'm giving BB 1.5 another go and I got WIUI 1.9.2 waiting on my SD card should I feel hungry for gingerbread :)

Totally agree thats that best rom for better battery life, no hangs no freeze, 720 video record through stock camera, vioce recorder, all apps and radio words find and its fast enough, if you find any better rom than this one which can record 720p and call recorder with better battery life let me know

thanks

If u need better battery life(in stand by mode) u must use Barebones froyo ROM.
If u need better performance u can consider using WIUI or cm7.
If u need more new feature u can use cm7.
If u need more moto staff u can use ms2ginger.

For me I am using WIUI and i would say it is a great rom if u like miui's interface and the battery life is good for me(1-2 days) also I don't need new features except crystal talk plus . :( But I guess MIUI's guys will be add it soon.

My phone:

Standby mode battery consumption :
BB: 4-5mA
MS2: 6mA
CM7/WIUI: 7mA

using HSDPA battery consumption :(reference only, depends of usage)
BB: ~80mA
MS2: ~85-90mA
CM7/WIUI: ~90-100mA

But the performance :
CM7/WIUI>MS2>BB

User Interface :(In my option)
WIUI>MS2>CM7>BB

Battery life BB>MS2Ginger>CM7=WIUI
Barebones Froyo rocks :D
Barebones has all functions you want but don't know for 720p record(I don't have red lens device so I can't test it.) But you can make it a try. :D
