My compass is not working not matter what I do. Tried all types of calibration apps with no success. They don't even detect the movement.
The phone is updated with the latest OTA from the HTC.
The screenshots are from GPS Status & Toolbox app.

Does anybody else have the same issue?
Any suggestions?

Flash the stock firmware. The fact you've used calibration apps is probably what threw it off in the first place. I've seen a gmaps bug do a false location and that takes a firmware flash to fix.

The only compass calibrating you should be doing is waving the phone in a figure of 8 while gmaps is running. Makes you look like a spastic but it works..

The first thing I tried was the gmaps calibration. I never used a calibration app before. I went after them when I saw that gmaps wasn't working.

How do I flash the firmware in a S-ON smartphone? I never changed the firmware manually, only through OTA. I have changed the ROM after that, but the compass wasn't working even on the stock ROM that came with the OTA.

I don't know if the phone came with that problem. I just noticed it recently.

S-on/s-off makes no difference, neither bootloader status. Just download the official zip of the firmware you're using now, rename it 0PJAIMG.ZIP, copy it to the EXTERNAL sd card and flash it in download mode.

You are right. I flashed the stock ROM, but that didn't fix the compass either. I probably got a defective device. :(
