What is 'mod 4'? 3020 is last endorsed stable release, that I know of.
Well, then you don't know. ;) Have you even looked at the TWRP thread lately? Do you see the BIG "out of date" beside the TWRP link? And why?

Here's our official thread, by @bhb27:

[RECOVERY][OFFICIAL TWRP 3.0.2-0][For all Quark][Moto Maxx/Turbo and Droid Turbo]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...recovery-twrp-2-8-7-0-touch-recovery-t3180308
Version 3.0.2-0
Initial release date: 2015-08-16
Last version date: 2016-04-05
Download official TWRP for Quark (Out of date. Check mirror for last update version)

Download Mirror folder
The mirror contains the official TWRP mirror + Mod TWRP version base on the latest official with extra backup option, NTFS support, extra languages, encryption support and etc improves...
Is not possible today to build this version in the official Server (Gerrit changes of TWRP source need to be merged by TWRP team) when the server can build this version I push the changes to a new official TWRP to be made.
@bhb27 is our official TWRP maintainer. He got us official TWRP, which is not easy. He also maintains multiple ROMs -- both Marshmallow and Nougat (Resurrection Remix, Mokee, crDROID) and develops BHB27 kernel for Quark (XT1254/XT1250/XT1225). As well as lot of stuff like Clean_Modem.zip, TurboToast, etc. for our Quark phones.

He has this TWRP for Quark users. Initially, his TWRP updates would then be posted simultaneously on the TWRP website also. But over a period of a couple of months he would submit the updates and they wouldn't be posted on the TWRP website. They claimed their system wasn't working right or something.

Now these are updates/mods coming from a dev who knows our Quarks almost better than anyone, who jumped through the hoops necessary to get us official TWRP in the first place. So, now he posts the Quark TWRP changes on his Android File Hosts space, so at least we can use the latest TWRP even if the TWRP team doesn't care.

You can use the OLD "official" out-of-date TWRP, but the newer versions with his updates are better for our phone. He lists why above in the OP portion I quoted.

"Mod 4" is from September, 2016.

Thanks for the detailed explanation! Just flashed Mod 4 using TWRP and freaked out a little when it stuck on the splash screen for longer than I had seen with 2.8.7.0 but rebooted again and waited. Came up fine and am now doing one more backup before attempting to upgrade to MM.

I've been out of the loop for awhile and hadn't done the last two LP updates since everything was working good, so I appreciate the info.

Also nice to see CF back in action - got worried following the MM thread when I hadn't seen him posting but now I know why!:good:

When I do a fresh install of an OS with GAPPs and no extra user apps whatsoever, my TWRP menu comes up in 30 seconds. After I re-install my almost 300 apps, when booting to TWRP the splash screen hangs for about 3 minutes until the TWRP menu appears. My wife's Quark with half that number of apps takes about half that time! I asked over in the TWRP thread, and @bhb27 said the number of apps shouldn't affect TWRP load time/splash screen time -- but all I can report is my own evidence and comparing two Quark phones side by side.

@bhb27 says his TWRP on his phone goes to menu screen in 30 seconds, like mine does on a clean install. He queried whether I was on latest booloader and I am.

Yes, earlier versions booted faster, but also had less support for other options. But the newer version is great, I just have to wait.

Does anyone have a working link to the 493dpi.zip flashable file? The link in the opening post isn't correct.

Or can I use the one from the CF's old LP ROM? I think I still have that.
Try this https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24345424848486651

Don't forget you need to use xposed app settings mod on moto display and set and save it to 640 dpi.

Letting the apps restore than rebooting to apply root again. I have to say this process went amazing smooth. Can't wait to get xposed installed and get things set up again. Thanks for your help and I'll be back later with an update on progress.

Yeah if restoring apps that seems like the best way. Especially if your setting up stuff like snapchat where you have to sign in to snapchat before you root or xposed on the phone. Even some cable providers are doing root checks on there apps.

Everything went relatively smooth, actually quite surprised how simple it was! Still have some stuff to do but overall it went great. Thanks for doing such a stupendous job!

Now I just got to get rid of that stupid unlocked bootloader screen... Lol

Yeah I need to fix up OP for stuff like that. But it sounds like you been around the block. So I take it you know how to remove that.

I was working on Getting a update out. But I wanted to test all tweaks 100%. I still need to switch my number back to the turbo and run it for a few more days. So with nos time I no longer have a ETA on when I will get it done. It may have to be next montb. I just need to find the time. I had to go to a doctor today that was a 4 hour drive round trip. With xmas days away we are non stop.

Seems most users are very happy with this build. I just hate that I did not get a non Verizon build up yet.

Dude, take some time for the holidays with your family! Relax! This thing is solid and we need to give it a workout anyway. Also need to watch your health. We can wait.

Dude way to go. As someone else said take a break! It is so nice to be able to run MM and have my VoLTE (AND NOW CALLING OVER WIFI YAY!!!).

It is sooooo odd being back on stock since sunshine came out. I was on your stuff before we had a BL Unlock and it always ran nice.

There is only ONE thing i hate about stock and i don't understand WTH they haven't done this but WHY have they not added a RESTART!!!
That is the only thing I'd ask if even possible, but again take some time off! Been running since Saturday and running nice and smooth. There are percs to being on stock. All the moto fuctions actually work ALL the time. I always had to reboot every other day otherwise they would stop working. Only thing i hate about stock as well is the min brightness could be nice a super low like on RR. Looks like it is back to using Darker all the time.

I was on CR droid 7.1 but was way too buggy for me. If they were to get VoLTE working i might go to it or upgrade to it after I get a new phone (Going Pixel after though though google and not Verizon. I already upgraded my Wifes phone but won't be shipped till middle of next month.

There are a few things I do find myself missing from RR since I have been on that for months now but they are things I can live without. The auto unlocking after typing in a pin was kinda nice and the starting of the music app when the Headphones were plugged in but to have all the moto apps working all the time and VoLTE is worth it.

I got to get rid of my BL Unlock warning as well lol just been to lazy to flash it. been like that for like 2-3 months XD

Also one other thing. Has anyone tried encryption since flashing to this? I know since it is stock it should be able to encrypt it (vs custom roms which had issues).

I was going to use the fastboot method like I did with LP, but I love the teal one in the link you sent and it's TWRP flashable! Thanks for the link!

Sent from my Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70F using Tapatalk
I included links to both ways, via fastboot (ADB) or TWRP.

The only difference I notice is the ADB (fastboot) way seems "permanent". The TWRP way, I have to re-flash every time I flash an update for my ROM, or else the "old" boot logo comes back. I'm on RR 6.x so I've flashed updates a few times.

Almost two years ago I fastboot flashed the black & white M logo. Recently I've been using the black & teal version via TWRP. But if I flash a ROM update and don't re-flash the black and teal logo in the same session, the old black & white version comes back, like a ghost. :p

If I ever get tired of that (it's really no bother), I can always fastboot flash the newer black & teal logo. ;) And then it will be the "permanent" one.

Xposed and gravity box you can add advanced power menu so you can have restart and stuff like that. Also so much more with gravity box.

Auto play music with headphones I use Powernamp for my music and it auto plays. I did not know this way a thing with stock as i always use power amp. There is also a app in the pkay store that will fix this i believe called headphone control you can then pick any app you like to start when you plug in.

Auto unlock may also be able to be fixed with xposed mod.

I did not try to encrypt i think you need a locked bootloader on stock.

Clarify? Do you mean an advanced power menu? Like this?

You can add a power menu via xposed. I found at least THREE options, besides Gravity Box.
