Theming Notes

I gave substratum a shot into theming stock moto rom. I wanted a different look while keeping the whole device stock. I will say that so far it has worked for me but make sure you do a back up before hand just to be safe.
Wanted to thank tecsironman and chime in that I've been using substratum based on his recommendation and it works really well on CF's rom and allows you to use pieces of different themes to get just the right look. I've had a lot of success with it and almost zero issues (one or two force quits in the beginning but they haven't happened again since) and I finally have all the wonder of MM with the dark look that I prefer. Well worth looking into.

I can also report that the Google Pixel Launcher will work on this rom, though I went back to GEL as I like having the right swipe to my feeds and haven't found a substratum theme that I like for Pixel yet. But no problems installing or running it. Really haven't run into an issue running anything so far.

Everything is nice, stable and quick and battery life seems great considering how much I've been playing with it lately. No one has called me so I can't tell you about the phone yet... :crying: (Yeah, welcome to my sad solitary life...thank god for hobbies.)

CF, any thoughts about adding substratum/OMS support to this ROM?
It already works as good as it is going to on stock based ROM just download from play store setup and reboot.

More info here https://www.google.com/amp/techfuzz...themes-android/amp/?client=ms-android-verizon

Here is a screenshot of my dialer using substratum

Deodexing the ROM may help some apps may get errors but for the most part it is working. You may have to do a bit of tweaking. But there are great forums for this info. As far as me supporting it no I will not as I just supply you the ROM. I do not have time to keep up with this kind of stuff. This is not like layers you do not need to much support from devs. Stock based Roms are hit or miss.

1st You did the right thing with my Verizon asking for root. THIS is Verizon checking if your rooted. I have seen this before on my Verizon app. I do not think this is what is causing your problem at all.

Do you have any battery mods installed or battery saving apps ? If yes get rid of any for now.

Things you can try

Next time it happens don't reboot turn airplane mode on and back off. Check to see if it fixed it.

Go into application Manger show system apps. Find " system " clear cache and data.

Go into settings under wireless and networks hit more then cellular network Change from global to lte/cdma under preferred network.

You can try and re-flashing radios.

You can see if it is something going on with your setup. Do a complete backup in TWRP. Then wipe system and data re-flash 1.0.4 no root or anything boot up and test for a few hours. You can just restore your twrp backup when done testing. Be right back up and running.

Ask Verizon or stop by a verizon store and grab a new sim card. You can just tell them you get a no sim card msg sometimes.

If you do not use the my Verizon app to manage your account or for data widget you can disable it. But i do not think this will help. Unless Verizon updated something.

I hope something above works. I tested a solid few days on data with 1.0.4 and it was great. I have to say I am not super happy with the new radios. I drop calls when switching towers when i tested.

Thanks for the reply! I did try turning on/off airplane mode when it happened but that didn't have any affect. So far after about 24 hours I haven't experienced the problem since turning off advanced calling. I'll give it a couple more days to see if the problem reoccurs and if it doesn't, then I'll turn advanced calling back on to see what happens. If I experience the problem after turning advanced calling back on then I'll run through some of the steps that you outlined. Thanks again!

The only reason I asked was that font support requires OMS commits. Not a big deal; I'm sure someone will figure out a way to change the system fonts at some point.
You can just flash system fonts as we did in my other roms. If adding system commits don't mess up the rom for users that are not going to use it. I will consider adding it. It also may not be possible on stock roms anyways. Deodexing the rom to add system commits not i big deal. Keeping the rom odex is more stable and faster. Maybe in my final builds of the rom i can add non Verizon, deodex builds. I will look into it next month.

Go under settings then wifi the hit the menu in the upper right corner tap advanced. Then turn off wifi scan or anything else there. That is the only thing i can think unless you activated wifi calling. If you did you need to un- activate it.

I found a great thread with TWRP flashable fonts that work in MM, just wanted to confirm.

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

I upgraded to a Pixel, wiped, and gave this phone to my son without rooting. Any idea why he can't get past the loading screen for Pokémon Go? I know that rooted devices can't access Pokémon, and that Root Cloak can fix that, but I never rooted it after wiping and Root Checker confirms it is not rooted.

Bootloader has been unlocked. Same reason Android Pay won't work, and I don't card. My freedom is more important. ;)
