Connected as an Installer

When you plug the phone into a computer it connects as an installer so you can install the driver and Verizon stuff. Where can I find those files to delete them? I'd like for my phone to automatically connect as MTP for file transfer without having to pull down the notification on the phone can change it.

I disabled all verizon apps minus the mobile hotspot and now it automatically connects the storage to my computer. I never saw anything about verizon when plugging it in, but I disabled it all first.

I just noticed that at first a drive that says "verizon mobile" shows up in my computer, then it goes away on its own and the media drive comes up after. Takes maybe 15 seconds or so before the media drive appears. I'll look into disabling the verizon mobile part, but at least it doesn't pop up with anything on the desktop (for me at least) and goes automatically goes away for some reason.

It does go to mtp if you wait long enough. I guess I was never that patient. It would still be much better if it would just go straight to it.

Same problem on osx here, and thing is there's not even an installer for osx. All it has in there are dll and exe. Can find any solution to permanently disable it yet. Tried disable all vz stuff and didn't work for me here.

I'd like the option for the phone to default to charge-only, so that damn windows popup doesn't come up anymore. I get the CD drive verizon mobile first. Then when I close that, it comes up with the SCH-I605, and I have to close that too.

My car deck can read music from thumb drives and would charge my last phone and play music from it at the same time. Deck doesn't get anything from note and note says connected as installer.

I'm rooted, usb debugging on, most Verizon bloat gone.

You could also turn off auto run in windows. It is a lot safer anyway (For those of us that plug in something where we don't know where it's been.)

It doesn't address the issue. It just hides the iso popup. It will still go to connected as an installer for 15-20 seconds, before your storage is available.

so i guess after 20 months of this thread being dead. no one came up with answer to this problem?????? cuz i'd like to just go straight to the mtp connection.

specially with the project i'm doing right now. where there's going to be a lot of plugging/unplugging

I know this is old thread but if rooted you can rename system/etc/autorun.iso to system/etc/autorun.bak to keep the Verizon stuff from popping up when plugging in to computer. Still haven't found a way to skip installer mode though.
