Console emulators on Shield

I love the shield so much! I seeing people on the web say its so ugly and hate on the thing for no reason. I think it's a gorgeous piece of tech. It's like the modern day Atari Lynx or Sega Game Gear. Bulky but more powerful than the competition and just misunderstood. N64 runs pretty much perfectly, unfortunately n64oid is pointless,no second analog or trigger support. NDS runds really well too, sound is kinds choppy but games run about full speed.
Can't wait to see the future of this lovely device

new to the site, been trolling for info here and there...but i got the Shield, and would like to play Columns. Old Genesis game...only issue is there's no menu button for me to get back to the emulator menu. using GenPlusDroid.

thanks!:D

Fantastic emulator can emulate other systems but mostly use it for PSX emulation. Based on the excellent PCSX-R. Unlike others it doesn't cost money and doesn't have adds in it. Has anyone tried retroarch on the Shield?
The dev is adding Shield support in the next build that will be on the play store today or tomorrow so all the buttons will work properly.

I downloaded it but am not really going to use it until he adds the controller support since I don't want to spend an hour getting the controls to kind of work only to have it fully supported a day later.

RetroArch has been updated and all the buttons now work in every emulator. The optimal settings have also been chosen for the Shield when you start it up so games should work great. Start and Select have been set to the thumb stick center buttons and the start button on the shield is used to bring the menu up in games.

I've been loving RetroArch, Nostalgia AHOY!

PPSSPP (some games load but audio and some models are glitched)
I'm also really loving PPSSPP - I tried it out for the first time last week and it worked alright, but then like the next day it got an update and now it runs great on some of the games I tried, luckily enough the ones I really really wanted.

Snes Emulator

Anyone experiencing performance issues with snes emulators? I tried Snes9x, superGnes and retro arch. Snes9x had the best performance, but every once in a while the framerate drops dramatically. Is it just me?

What game are you playing? Have you restarted the device (sleep related performance issues) are you using stock settings or have you enabled anything funky (retroarch shaders/filters)

I have retroarch using snes9x next core and performance is identical to the actual console and even better than original in some cases

Yes I tried restarting the device, not using any special shaders, basic stuff.
Happens in every games, mostly in megaman X, but also zelda: a link to the past and even mario world.

As far as I remember it used to run better when I first got it, not sure if a factory reset would help.

Its worth a shot, reflashing factory resetting my shield helped fix some random issues I was having with memory card reading. But those games run perfect for me in retro arch snes9x next core.

If its still misbehaving you may want to inquire with nvidia, does it only happen on emulators see the same dips in regular games?

not really noticed in android games, but when I stream PC games it does skip some frames from time to time. This might be related to my router though since it's not on the official recommended list...
