I would appreciate if someone is interested to do some development / tweaking on the Contacts app. As is the app has limit of about 350MB of data or about 17-18k contacts I would like to be able to synchronize quite a bit more. At this moment at least 40-50k contacts or about 1GB of data.

In addition to the capacity a csv export function would be a huge benefit.

You're -really- unlikely to get much of a response to this. That's just way too much data for a phone based app to handle; SQLite (Android's database engine), as a softcap of about 10,000 records. You can exceed that, but you will sacrifice a significant amount of performance. So much so that you'll likely just crash the phone.

Besides, based on your postings in your other thread, you're not really making efficient use of your contact. You say they all follow you on LinkedIn and Facebook etc, so just update your status and they'll see it. Other than that, keep your contacts in a proper desktop based mail application like Outlook and do a bulk mailing from there. Phones are not desktop computer replacements.

Also, I doubt anyone would even consider doing this for free. You're talking serious money here for a custom app to be developed. I could probably do it (with no performance guarantees), but not for less than $5k.

Ouch, i was prepared to pay but not that much.

Yea I would love to do it on my desktop but have not found a way to get all my contacts into Outlook with their respective details and joined accross platforms. As is cant even export my LI contacts. Any ideas on how to achieve this would be most appreciated.

As the one who removed most of the arbitrary restrictions from SGS2 things... I don't think this is practical... 350 MB is a lot of data to be loading up and searching and parsing to produce a scrollable list...

I honestly don't think it would be beneficial to work on this with any sensible amount of time. Database performance, as stated above, would suck too...

Agree it deteriorates even with just 5k contacts when i synchronize my skype and facebook but im willing to wait even an hour or more to get the desired result and to be able to export the database.

I dont even need to be able to scroll through it.
