Hello, I think I fount the cause of this. For me it started when I installed the Google Contacts App and then clicked fix & merge contacts.
Ever since, keeps adding 17 contacts in the (Samsung Contacts app) Recycling ♻ bin.
Just uninstaled Google Contacts app.
Observing recycling bin for any updates...
Google is a mess. I disable Google Contacts Sync on my N10+'s.

Use Samsung contacts and make sure to export backup copies regularly and redundantly for a rainy day.

So I am curious - you can use the built-in Samsung Contact App but still keep all your contacts in your Google account?

I have 2 device of Samsung:
1st Samsung Galaxy Note 10+.
2nd Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G.

The last 2 Years I have Daily Problem of Auto Delete from Google Play Services.

Also when I am going to Settings, Applications, Privileges and Disable Contacts then the next day is Auto Enable it.

The other thing is that I have 2 times Google Play Services.

I contact with Samsung over 10 times the Last 2 Years and they told me that they don't know how to fix this problem.

I am really start thinking the next year to jump to iOS.

I am really tired with so many Basic Bugs - Problems that have all Android OS the last 10+ years...

I miss Symbian OS and Windows OS Phones.

I hope and Wish Windows make a come Back soon.

ya, I'm giving up on Samsung. ask customer service, almost a year now, they just keep giving the same generic answer. Once they tried to remotely check and fix this issue using smart tutor. They create more problem than solving any. My next choice is Pixel or ios

Greetings,

I just checked my Contacts Trash 'folder' and was shocked to see contacts that I never deleted, which were "scheduled" to be permanently deleted in 2 days. They all had this remark:

"Deleted from Google Play services on May 2,, 2020. 2 days until it's deleted forever". There is an option to restore them.

Does Google Play Services search for "unused", or "not frequently used" contacts behind the scenes and decides to delete them? God knows what other contacts were deleted from my Contact list.

Thanks.
Maybe this...

Well, y'all are in luck, as I'm guessing no one has found a solution yet. I've found that I've been experiencing this issue too recenty. Fortunately, I also have a Google Workspace Enterprise subscription so I'm contacting support there and hoping to get the issue escalated to a more relevant team (Android) if they're not able to resolve it directly (which they probably can't as this looks like some kind of system-level issue or a problem with the web backend). I'll keep y'all posted of any updates as I find out more.

They said as it's most likely an internal issue, they're having a team look into it and it may take a few hours before they get back to me (which they promised they would via email). Just got off a meet call with them where I shared my tablet screen and showed them exactly what was happening. They made note of everything and I managed to bundle a couple other bug reports in with it as well. 😉

Interesting. I moved all my contacts to samsung account and deleted every contacts in my google account. I checked they are both gone in both my phone and google contacts (via web). Now, after a week, all these contacts came back to this google account out of nowhere.

I disabled my google contacts sync on my phone, but all theses contacts came back alive on both phone and google account. No idea how this happened.

Hi guys,
Also, I facing the same issue on my Samsung S22 Plus, did anyone find out why?

I wondered if the backup on Google One is related to this issue.

Screw Gookill. You got a Samsung so use the Samsung app Contacts to export or import a copy of your contacts. Save that file on your backup drives. Both Google backup and SmartSwitch can leave you boned...
