Contacts linked unwanted and incorrectly

Hi!

I'm on Stock 5.0.2 Android (23.1.A.1.28) and have troubles with the Contact APP! I use my Google Account to sync my Contacts. And I only have this account. The problem is, that the Contact-App randomly links some Contacs which have absolutely nothing in common. I can dislink the automatic linked contacts, but it is frustrating to check thousands of contacts.

Is there a way to switch this behavior off?

Got it to work again.

• Stopped syncing of my google account!
• Removed all contacts
• Syncted it with whatsapp so these contacts will also get removed (do it with every messenger/app that creates contacts...
• Switch on syncing of my google account again
• Syncted it with whatsapp,...

Now it seems to work again...
Still don't know how this messup could start

sorry to revive this old thread but how exactly did you fix it? Unfortunately my messed up and randomly linked contacts have been synced back to Google already
