Cool down Moto Z with Aluminum Foil

The phone gets slightly warm when charging, so I was thinking about easy ways to cool down the phone.
Given that I want to use a case, and most cases had a hole around the mod pins anyway, I put aluminum foil between the phone and case as shown

Because the style shells, mods and cases block heat convection/ conduction I thought that this was an ok solution. However, I now often get error messages that mods are not correctly attached. So I stopped using this method.

Any thoughts, opinions or other methods about phone heat?
Thanks!

Copper tape might work well for this, or aluminum tape.

It's way less hot after the 7.1.1 update though.

But if it is conducting electricity as well, I will still get the Moto Mods error message right?

Still afraid of the 7.1. update
Yes, you'll get the mod error, you're shorting out pins, and possibly the phone (actually the moto has surprisingly good shock prevention to mainboard... even when you're trying to do it intentionally)
If you don't want to short it out, and you feel it's getting too hot, thermal TAPE is likely what you need. But you'd still needs some kind of heatsink in addition. and either way you instantly remove the ability to use Mods without removing it completely. I've never experienced a major heat issue with my Moto, so I'm not quite sure the concern. Both my Galaxy S6 and S7 get far more hot when charging.
