Corrupted MID?

I have an issue where my MID is stuck at modelid: 0P6B2000000????????????????????? when I run a fastboot getvar all. It's causing issues when I try to RUU. I've followed a guide where one can change MID as needed if S-OFF, but no matter what I change it to, it still has the extra numbers and all of the question marks. Any ideas how to clear this? I've tried relocking and running a stock RUU, no dice. I've tried issuing commands to change the MID from VZW (what it's currently set to), to T-Mobile, and it still has the extra zeroes and the question marks at the end. It was initially a VZW device, btw.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You need to stop trying to do this immediately.

It quite simply can't be done (convert to T-Mobile by RUU/firmware). The Verizon M8 is not compatible with the firmware/RUU for any other M8 versions. Trying to do will not work, and can permanently damage the phone (radio brick).

If you want to fix the MID to correctly make it back to the Verizon MID, to run the Verizon M8 RUU, that is another story. But Verizon M8 RUUs are the only ones you should use on the Verizon M8.

Understood, and just so you're aware, the phone still boots and works on T-Mobile, but for some reason won't pick up LTE on Verizon anymore.

I didn't flash any RUU's outside of VZW ones. I was trying to unlock band 12 for T-Mobile and changed MID using commands on this post:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708581

I have tried re-running the Verizon RUU from the SD card (will no longer let me from fastboot RUU mode due to errors, guessing it's related to this MID debacle). But, even flashing the VZW RUU won't seem to clear the extra zeroes and question marks when reading MID. I even tried doing a factory reset from the stock VZW firmware to hopefully clear the nvram but that didn't seem to help.

Again, usable phone, but cannot get it completely back to "normal". I am S-Off, by the way.

Take a look at these two threads, if you haven't already:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/how-to-convert-cdma-m8-sprint-vzw-gsm-t3303812

I can't personally vouch for these, but just know they exist.

I assume you tried simply changing back to the Verizon MID using the appropriate adb commands?

RUU won't change the MID, it's the other way around (the wrong MID will cause the RUU to fail).

Thanks, I had found and used those threads for unlocking the bands, but now I just want to get it so it can work with VZW properly again in the future.

I did use the adb commands to set the MID back to Verizon, but no matter what, it still has the appended zeroes and question marks. I'm pretty sure that's why I can no longer get VZW LTE and I can't RUU from fastboot RUU mode, only SD zip file.

This is a challenging one for me. :)
