thank you so much ;)
very useful !
because each time we don't take time to understand and to parameter wirh appeopriates options.....and some people flash customs kernels but they don't know at all these parameters .

I know what they mean but it's always very hard to find the best compromise...

I have seen write-ups in the past of what the different parameters are so will provide links the the OP tonight.

I will also provide an updated file with the .json zipped up and it will also include a back to stock profile within it as well.

Is there any form of standardized testing for these kernals?

I'm currently using the first stable v2 kernal on stock rom and wouldn't mind contributing to the statistics. I can provide my general wakelocks and SOT but each day varies so it won't exactly be consistent depending on what I do.

Although so far everything does feel snappier, not sure about battery yet though.

I don't think we will be able to compare figures from one ROM / kernel to another (at least between stock based and aosp).

In essence the idea of tweaking the governor to improve performance is solid. The two current profiles here aim to ramp up CPU frequency to the levels requires to perform smooth operations quickly (but no more than that). As such, because the processor is spending more time at lower speeds, it's using less power.

I would suggest you follow the three links at the bottom of my OP to optimise your system as best you can first. I would then test battery life and fluidity (not so much antutu score but a gut feel of how smooth your phone feels). Then apply the settings and see if you get better battery life and/or fluidity.

Ravi

Lucky for us I've already performed the actions in the 3 links when I got the phone last year. Today would be my first full day of testing so I guess I'll report back tomorrow with how it feels overall from starting to end of day. So far fluidity is there versus stock settings. Looking forward to seeing the new profiles being added :)

I have updated the second post with my first run through of the Alpha Butterfly settings. Battery life was a little less than what normally get with some heavier usage and without Amplify installed (my mistake). I am on my second run through now with Amplify installed and will report back on battery life.

However, a big improvement is how smooth / fluid the phone has been during the last day. I would take buttery smooth with no (or small decrease) in battery life any day :)

As I start seeing other settings, I will add them in. If anyone has any settings they would like me to add into the profiles.zip then just let me know. I will continue adding from soniCron's thread in the meantime.

Regards,

Ravi

Hi @genesixxbf3,

Just to clarify, do you mean someone who is on stock AOSP or stock CM kernel?

Also, I have seen that you have used the Alpha Butterfly settings as the 'new stock' settings. I was wondering if you could provide me with the 'old stock' settings so I can create a profile for them?

Ravi

Using soniCron Crazy Alpha Butterfly (Interactive).
Everything running smoothly.
Had 1 reboot.
I'll post more data when I collect battery life.
Which rom and what other settings are you using? So far I have had no reboots but will keep an eye on this and update the 2nd post if I can replicate.

I have updated the OP to link to a guide. Its long winded but gives a good understanding in the 2nd or 3rd post about what the different parameters are doing.

If people use your latest version of Llama Sweet, they may want to use the Interactive Governor without the Alpha Butterfly settings. So what I am asking for is the Interactive settings are before you moved for the Alpha Butterfly if that makes sense? Its more for completeness as I do think the Alpha Butterfly settings rock :good:

Well, I was on latest RR.
Had that reboot this morning and never happened again, even with some gaming and deep sleep periods.
Dont know what caused it.
At the final of de day, I experimented some lag at unlocking the phone, acces quick tiles, etc.that was with previuos versions of RrRon and Llama kernel.
Now I flashed latest on both.
Will keeping u guys posted.

Real test is today :silly:

The day before yesterday there was a very nasty facebook wakelock with their bug reporting service. Now I permanently uninstalled Facebook for good. No more second chances, just about fed up with their app sabotaging.

And then yesterday for some reason Snapchat went rogue and I had to uninstall and reinstall then it settled down.

So far today, things are finally looking stable again. 3 hours of uptime since I woke up with 20 mins of SOT, currently sitting at 97%. Going from 100 to 99 does take some time but normally I would be at 95 at this point :)
