Keep it updated

I have the same issue but mine went away for a week and it happened today. Since then I have been using it and its fine. I seem to thinks it's a software issue. It is very random. Let us know what they did. I won't be surprised if they just re flashed it and called it a day. Cuz mine has been stable for a week.

I got my tablet back from Samsung today. I've been torture testing this thing for about the last 2 hours and not one crash. Now... I'm not convinced that this is fixed and everything is as it should be but it's an awesome start. I'm kind of scared to root if they did in fact replace something in the tablet. Don't want to brick it or trip knox. Anyone have any insight on if I should have anything to worry about by rooting this tablet? They don't say exactly what they replaced. All it says is the tablet wasn't able to update properly and they replaced a "component". I will report back if I have anymore issues. Fingers crossed.

The problem with stock is you can't use the damn microsdcard...most apps can't save to it... Hence why I rooted. I am so disappointed with this tab , I have had the att version forb3 months I am not even a gamer but I decide to try a game, 10/minutes in the screen goes blue. If the only way to use this tab is not to root it, I'm returning it to stock and returning it to att.

Rooting it isn't the problem. Rooting it makes no difference. Rooted or unrooted it still blue screens and crashes.
I talked to someone at Samsung and asked them to explain what was written on the receipt I got with my tablet. I was told they replaced a main board inside the tablet. Something that communicates with ATT. I wasn't receiving certain updates from ATT. I asked if this was a common issue and was told no. Sounds like bull. They'll fix it if you send it in but if you don't complain all is good for samsung.
But still... tablet has been flawless since I got it back.

Last I checked you didn't need to write to the SD to play videos or music, or read books, comics, magazines... ;)

That's what the SDcard was intended for from the day they came out. Not as an App storage, but as a media storage.

I have 212 apps (Mostly games) on my tab and 11GB free. My SDcard is loaded to the brim with the abovementioned media. SD works fine for this purpose, plenty of space on the tab left for everything else.

And a lot of apps write to the SD without issue. Quickpic, for one. ES file explorer, too. All stock apps can do it too. Including stock camera.

The one thing I've run into is that you can't save album art. Which is a good thing really, because 500x500px on 2K 12.2" looks terrible. :p

Did you even read what you quoted??... I asid I am not a gamer...all I mainly use my tab for is media storage. So the main apps I use regularly(that you may not which are a few paid apps) can't write to the microsd card without root.I am not a newbie . BTW what does esfile explorer write ?? Its a file explorer! I know how to use my tab ,I have no idea what point you were trying to make other than to tell me your SD card is loaded to the brim. I have a 128 GB SD card. I like being able to use it without restriction, which is the main reason I rooted my tablet. My main issue is this supposed beast of a tablet can't handle a game for 10 minutes. so no I don't have to write to a SD card to enjoy my media but I paid a lot of money for this tablet and want to use it the way I do.

[OFFTOPIC] You paid Samsung a lot of money for what they sold to you, so why whining? If you didn't know what you were buying, that's your problem [/OFFTOPIC]

What bad did ShadowLea do to you?

And didn't Samsung fix that external sd card writing problem in their updates?
Besides, if applications are not updated to work on KK devices, is it Samsungs fault or app developer? If some apps can still write to external storage, it's possible to do, just app developers hadn't update their apps to work on KitKat.

No they didn't or I wouldn't have had to root....and does it matter who's fault it is,?...I like being able to use my SD card so I rooted...wow didn't expect people to react like this....can we please stay on topic..whining really???... It's called making a statement if you have a issue with me pm me. What bad did shadow do to me? Nothing , she attempted to school me on using my tablet which is fine if that's how she uses hers. I use mine differently... Move on and feel free to pm if you like

You must have accidentally missed the part where I said

Took about 3 weeks total from the time I sent it in.
I have not had a single issue since I got it back. Some apps crash but that's more than likely the app and not the tablet. No blue screens since it was fixed.
I'm rooted and running problem free.
This is a real problem with the AT&T version of this tablet. I see a lot of people say turn this or that off. The only real fix for this is getting it repaired.

mines not fixed

Really? i feel unlucky then. I have been having the blue screen problem myself. Except i have sent it into samsung 4 TIMES!! and it still blue screens!! They have replaced the lcd once and the PBA (motherboard) twice.....ive lost hope. It would seem the ATT p907a version of this tablet is beyond defective since 3 motherboards all in a row crash with blue screen of death constantly. this has to be a hardware related issue right?

I unfrozen every app and I had knox frozen in tibu. And haven't had one reboot in aN hour. I don't know if it's that but I also bought a speck case and not sure if that's causing it because I didn't notice it before. Either way it's not doing it anymore and I'm going to leave the case on to see if that's causing any grief

Not sure what to say except they replaced a part in mine that communicates with ATT. It couldn't grab updates from ATT and that is what was causing the crash. I can check and see if I still have the return paperwork and scan you a copy and see if they replaced the same part. This might help others as well.

Did you manage to post/find what part was replaced? I am having same problem.
Following are most of the scenarios that I have experienced a crash in. I am listing them so that others might spot a pattern may be.
  • Tablet in repair second time
  • Done factory reset more then once
  • Done Factory Reset via Kies
  • Running latest OS
  • Used Samsung original Book cover
  • Used third party smart cover
  • Used Samsung pro plus 64 GB SD card
  • Crash happend in MX Player (custom codec), TouchWiz Launcher, Lock Screen, Chrome, etc.
  • Motherboard replaced ones
  • Power button has gone slightly lower/in than usual
  • Crashed when connected to Kies for backup on Mac
  • Froze all possible apps from samsung incliuding KNOX, ChatOn, etc.
  • Stock ROM, unrooted.
Also, I have always experienced a freeze when installing application. I have moved all the apps into phone memory.
:crying:

Same Issues BSOD

Hello everyone! I have the same issues with a p907a NOTE PROblem, and have refreshed the ram , I uninstalled most of the app from the system (with the idea of doing lighter
) , have slightly up the mother board with a plastic tape , force gpu, hardware overlays, and nothing ... absolutely nothing. Ive now root with Towelroot , but before and after being root, the problem is the same. I think it's a problem with the processor, and if so , can not solve by ourselves. I'm really upset about this situation.
Anyone have any ideas that might help? any idea is good

The solution (I think, working so far !)

I had that problem and I tried rebooting, uninstalling apps, etc. But the thing that worked for me, was to change the Samsung keyboard to google's keyboard. Did notre have any problem ever since ! :p

I have to reset my SM-P905 every few months to avoid rebooting issues

I've got this problem with my Note Pro 12.2 (SM-P905), every few months the device starts rebooting, it's something that happens randomly, some days there's no problem and sometimes it's impossible to use it because it keeps rebooting continuously.

Resetting the device to factory default setting fixes this problem, but it's annoying having to reset the device every few months.

I think installing Android 6 to this device would fix it, because we don't even have Android 5.1. It's a pitty that there won't be more Android updates for this device, we have a very good device, but unfortunately discontinued and abandoned by Samsung.
