It haven't been tested on the Cube i9 yet, but on the Cube i7 and Teclast X2 you could add an M2 LTE module on the spare connector to get a working 4G connection.

@Wootever ok, I've seen the TechTablet interns video and he has explained the upgrade, but the SIM slot it is soldered to main board, is it compatible with this Huawei Modem? If it's compatible, this tablet has all I want and all I haven't with Cube i7 Stylus, bigger size, kickstand, usb normal, bigger ssd (I don't use the stylus often).

Hi Wootever, just to point out that this can't be flashed with a test clip. The clips can't make contact with the bios pins using any clips I've tried. It will need to have the wires soldered to the pins itself or removed and flashed. Beyond my own solder skills. So my i9 is dead for now.

When does your i9 arrive? I'm interested to see if you'll do another heatsink mode for yours? Just be own cheap and quick heat sink mod saw max temps drop over 20 degrees.

Yes, unfortunately it seems that the Bios package isn't a generic SOIC.
Do you have some small IC clip like here? This might work if the clip can connect to the bios pins.

Hopefully at the end of the week or early next week.

Edit:
My SOIC clip was also rather imprecise, so i disassembled it and resoldered the wires to match the bios pins:

Now you can use a sponge (for example) and a small weight to fix the clip:

Not the most impressive solution, but it's working quite well.

@Wootever I'm back in action! Thanks to your sponge method, I had cut my clips but couldn't think of a way to hold it in place as good as a sponge and nail, brilliant idea. It wasn't easy. Took me a good 2 hours of attempts. First flash failed with the latest bios. It would not boot only flash a red light. The first bios you list was the one that my unit shipped with I think and that one worked.

Now the good part, my quick and easy basic thermal mod works well. Max temps under 70 degrees now and a small boost in performance. It will now benchmark similar to a Surface Pro 4 M3. And now if we increase the power limits (Since my thermals have improved) using XTU it can perform slightly better even. I'll be working on a write up of all this experience.

@fratus1 Yes we need to add antennas as there are none.

Thanks, good to see that you got your device working again.
I'm eagerly awaiting your final review since the device looks very promising, actually like a economically priced Surface Core-M with the possibility of maintenances.

Despite everything this brick also have it's advantages:
- The device can be re-flashed even though it's effortful.
- The BIOS has some placeholder settings that aren't properly implemented (fortunately this menus can be hidden for a possibly Bios mod).

    Good news!
    About a week ago i installed my LTE modem i the i9 and now ive done some testing, and it works! Im getting around 15-20mbps up/down, which i think is decent.
    I dont know much about antenna placement, but i tried to place them so the battery wasnt in the way. if anyone knows anything specific about placement, please share :D

    ive added some pictures and a link for the modem ive installed.

    Note: i had some trouble with the placement of the simcard. make sure the chip is right above the connectors.

    I've created a AutoHotkey script to modify what action the gestures on the Cube i9 keyboard cover trigger. This script will disable the "minimize all windows" trigger whenever you swipe in from the top of the touchpad. It will also change the other gestures to something more useful.

    To use this script, you need to install AutoHotkey first. AutoHotkey can be downloaded from https://autohotkey.com/ . Do not install the 64-bit version, but choose "Custom Installation -> Unicode 32-bit" during installation. Next download the zip file and extract Touchpad.ahk. Double click the script to start it. When the script runs, a green icon with an H will be added to you notification area. You can stop the script by right clicking on the icon.

    I am using the following setup. Feel free to modify the script to your preferences. The script is pretty universal so it might work for other touchpads as well.

    Swiping in from the top of the touchpad -> Do nothing
    Three finger swipe down -> Do nothing
    Pinching in with two fingers -> Do nothing
    Pinching out with two fingers -> Do nothing

    Two finger swipe left -> History back in browser
    Two finger swipe right -> History forward in browser

    Three finger tap -> Middle mouse button click
    Three finger swipe left -> Previous tab in browser
    Three finger swipe right -> Next tab in browser

    Three finger swipe up -> Home key
    Swipe in from left edge -> Home key
    Swipe in from right edge -> End key
    ​

    Known limitations of this script:

    Because not all gestures generate unique key combinations, some useful gestures had to be disabled or changed as well. Gestures that share the same key combination and can not be changed independently:
    Three finger swipe down / Swipe in from top edge of touchpad
    Three finger swipe up / Swipe in from left edge of touchpad

    In some keyboard configurations page zoom using a control+scrollwheel on your mouse does not work reliably. Use the right control key to prevent detection by this script.

    Every now and then a modifier (alt/control/shift/windows) key can get "stuck" The wrong event will be send or detected. To get the keys "unstuck" again press down each modifier key once. If this doesn't solve the problem restart this script.
