Yes, task managers can be of some use to power users; sorry for the knee-jerk reaction and assumptions, but there are just so many people out there new to Android that install a task killer because they think that all those background processes are taking up CPU cycles and battery life. I agree that it would be nice to at least have a built in way to prioritise apps; I for one would love to put GVoice up there in priority since it's my main texting conduit.

As for Ubuntu on the streak 7, it's very cool! I don't care if it's uber functional or not, I just like to see it on as many devices as possible.

As an aside, I don't think this ROM is going anywhere as I haven't seen the OP in some time. Maybe one of us can decompile it and add some stuff in (the WPA_Supplicant would be very nice; it really ought to be built into every ROM for Android).

At the moment Ubuntu is shell only but its close to working :-D I think I'd run it on here more than android once its ready to go. ( forget about honeycomb..... full desktop here we come !!! )

Also I agree... no reason not to include wpa_supplicant modified for adhoc as most of us use it anyway LOL.

I may take a stab at rom building again. Last time I built one was for wm6 LOL. I am familliar enough with android Sdk now though... free time is the hard part sadly.

Go for it! I have the same issue for free time; I was learning how to code/compile, but I have several other things that have now gotten in the way.

If you do compile a FroYo ROM (easiest to do on the S7), here are some things you ought to put in it:
-Zeam Launcher set for tablet size (something like a 6x6 row)
-ES File Explorer (free, root explorer)
-Black notification bar
-app priorities (ala a task killer)
-Ad Hoc support
-No bloatware
-Overclock ability
-Kickin' boot animation

Make this flashable via CWR and I'm sure you'll have a few takers, unless HC gets smoothed out. Make a GB ROM AOSP sans bugs and you'll get even more (GB has a better UI, is faster, and gets better battery life).

I've already started using this ROM as a base. I of course am basically adding / removing packages but I won't release anything unless the OP of this rom says its ok to use his as a base. For now is just being used by me until othwerwise allowed lol

I fixed wpa supplicant and rather than zeam I'm using vtl launcher. I can't seem to get its config to stick though. Es file explorer is included as well as the bios style boot animation.

Well, it's all open source so as long as you credit where credit is due you're OK. Just my $0.02.

I just recompiled and heres what's in the cwr flashable zip so far :

I've fiixed wpa supplicant , added es file manager , added zeam as the launcher , and changed boot animation to the bios animation.

Any other suggestions?

PS
If OP is reading, can you tell me what you named the launcher you are currently using in the rom ? Id like to remove it completely but can't find it ( oem is launcher2.apk) . If not ill dig more when I get home ( doing all this from my car right now lol )
Thanks !

PPS
I'm still trying to get ahold of a kenel dev who helped us OC the kyocera zio but no luck so far sadly.

Ugh.. VTL sucks, plus it's not free, so probably shouldn't include it in any ROMs.

Actually. . . You are incorrect.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046302

Gojimi specifically states and I quote "The Launcher is FREE here for XDA members. It costs 2.99 on the Android Market and with that you will get automatic updates and support further development "

I think vtl has awesome features and is fully customizable. Gojimi did an amazing job on it.

Also not to mention I was a tester for a couple other roms in which he popped into irc with us :) . Obviously if I were to use it id give credit where it was due.

Alrighty, but you might check to make sure he's okay with including it in ROMs. As for the rest, okay ;)
