i used to have the moto e 3g so i passed by to see how the dev. work is going on for the e3 , i can assure you guys that the e3 can run cm14.1 and LineageOS , i dont have this device so i can't at least port my LineageOS to the moto e3 . But i did port the E3 stock rom to my device wich is also a MT6735 x32bit userland.

well as long as you dont touch the preloader then its unlikely to brick , also you need a backup of your device, does your device have a twrp and a unlocked bootloader?
