No way! Completely different hardware, flashing RN3 Roms will brick your device! But I believe in few months the first custom roms will be out, the Snapdragon SOC surely helps developing [emoji1]

just don't hold your breath waiting for custom rom will be available anytime soon, remember that starting from Redmi 3, Xiaomi is locking their bootloader
With the unlock procedure is pretty easy to do it.. A code to unlock the bootloader is provided by Xiaomi after user request

Yes its easy but according to "So if you are a Diamond level and higher forum member, you might be an experience MIUI user and can directly download the Mi Flash Unlock Tool and follow the instructions to unlock your device. For the rest of us, lets continue on our expedition for Mount Everest." at http://en.miui.com/thread-210153-1-1.html
They are now discriminating users. I think will pay extra to buy from a company that treats me fair.

Ok I got what you mean. I agree, the Xiaomi policy in this regard is awful, also because leads to spam and useless comments in their forum.. But since it's the only way...

They sent me the unlock approval after <10 days, even though I'm a new user.

Also got my unlock approval after less than 2 weeks. New Mi account, first Xiaomi Phone.
Though, as already stated, completely useless unless a propriate dev rom supporting bl unlock on redmi 3 is published... :-/
