Question Custom ROMs

Search This thread
you have magisk and its modules , you have custom kernels that improve battery life and perfomance , what do you want more than that , this can cover the extras you talk about , custom roms that are heavily modified than the rubbish miui skin is a headache , custom roms devs dont care much about tracking and fixing bugs , when you install custom roms you know that there is a deal , you get those useless extras , in exchange for stability and reliability
note , my words applied just for the pixel stock roms , not for third party rubbish like miui and oneui and their brothers
But, with user that don't have time for such magisk, module, kernel things.
They all packed in simple one Rom that i only need 5 mins to flash. Every things already there to use. And i don't think i must trade so much stability for its. Almost everything is ok.

I once try to do that with stock, root, module xyz, kernel, and find out that's waste of time

MIUI rubbish??
I used to run MIUI on many other devices in the past. It was a solid ROM, until the Nexus 6, dev for MIUI fell off, but the OS was like iOS on Android. I even ran a Twitter page for MIUI on Android for awhile.

It's not a good OS anymore?

As a normal user, i must say, miui is beautiful, in some way, it looks like iOS on android with a lot of custom functions, but memory management and performance is so bad, app closed in background, bad battery life, some laggy refresh rate.
Who say miui is rubbish maybe running china version of miui. Global miui is good for daily life. If u want more, should go for xiaomi.eu rom, they fixed almost everything bad in original miui.
I always buy flagship Xiaomi phone, so i had good days with miui too.

Last month i sold my Mi 12s pro, first i plan to sell my p7, but buyer gone, so must sell 12s pro. It's very good phone :)

Evolution x is what I am currently running. So many cool features on this ROM. Its stable and has slightly better battery life over stock. Development is consistent with the option for OTA updates as well. I see myself running this ROM for the remainder of this phone's life cycle.

I flashed EvX on my P7P at least 4 times but the cellular connection did not work all 4 times. Also, I tried crDroid.. the same issue. I love to give EvX a try if it does not break cellular

This is what I am on
You really don't see it? IF that pic is correct, you're trying to flash an Android 13 custom ROM on your Android 14 Beta.

You have to flash stock 13 firmware to both slots, A and B, to clean out all the 14 Beta stuff that's lingering. It doesn't matter if you wiped the device, you HAVE to flash Android 13 to BOTH slots, meaning flash the firmware, reboot to inactive slot and flash the firmware again.

Or use the Pixel flasher tool by one of the site devs, shouldn't be hard to find

I'm on stock. In my opinion don't make sense to flash custom ROM on Pixel. That device is really optimized on stock. You never know when Dev stop development ROM. Yes... They always are sure never will be stopped. Many times I heard that and they stopped. I need really stable software to use daily. I used lot of ROMs. Even now official crDroid was stopped for 7pro. So I don't think so is good choice to flash custom if stock is enough optimized. Off course this is just my opinion.

Hey all the custom ROMers here. I hope you all are doing great. What ROM you are currently running on your P7/P7P and why? I'm pretty new to android root scene and looking forward to install custom ROM on my P7. Any answers would be appreciated!!

Custom ROM and ROOT is difference
With custom rom, u will get more features which lack from stock, more battery life

With root u will have more control of system ...

    I thought like you before
But battery life of stock p7 is so bad, i can't stay 1 day without charging the phone.
SOT is only about 4,5 hours. With evolution x, i have about 6-6,5h
Maybe it's the best thing that i want

you will not get any extras from custom roms if you switched from official system , users who have xiaomi devices with cutting edge specs but poor software like miui might do so , but you have all the things you want in stock android , you might flash custom karnel for more perfomance and longer battery life ,but stock equals stability and reliability especially for pixels
I'll get from a custom ROM whatever I add to said custom ROM, which, agreeably isn't much over stock, lol :D

I like the minimalist approach, pitch black, system fonts/icons, and battery styles are the only thing missing from stock, as far as I'm concerned.
