Not to hijack this thread, but i had question for you guys.

I got a LG G2 during the glitch and picked it up in store the same day with the idea of exchanging it for a Note 3 when it releases.

anyways I was thinking, if I go to exchange it in store and go to the same person who helped me last time (keep unlimited) would it be just a straight exchange plus the difference of the phone? I dont want them to remove my unlimited.

Also i bought the g2 with the "verizon30" coupon...would that still work with the note 3 when i exchange it?

thanks guys!
The transitional G2 to N3 with unlimited will work. Of course, the difference in price of the phones will apply. The Verizon30 discount will not apply as it's no longer available.

Thanks! sucks though because I would be out even more money than if i had just preordered it (didnt want to take a risk of verizon killing my unlimited during the wait time of getting the n3)

paid 219 for g2 after taxes and verizon30 discount.. looking at paying 370 plus restocking fee of 35...400...damn..might have to reconsider my thoughts on this one lol

I just tried calling Verizon to see if I could buy the Note 3 & keep my unlimited data. At first the girl said she never heard of the glitch & that she had been working all week. She put me on hold for about 5 minutes & came back well educated about the glitch but said that it was fixed & that they don't have unlimited data plans. HOWEVER, she said she could offer me the MAX which is 6gb for $30/month and that my data usage shows I don't use near that amount. I stuck firm & said that I could head over to T-Mobile & get unlimited data/text/minutes with no contract AND it'll be cheaper than VZN. She stuck firm with her offer. I told her I think it's sad that VZN won't try hard enough to keep customers with their prehistoric contracts especially after the public has shown that they don't want to be locked in anymore. She said people have switched to their share plans & have been very happy to which I replied that they must have been uneducated into what was available to them.

So now I think T-Mobile will be getting a new customer VERY soon...and now that they are really amping up their coverage & 4g and that they have GSM phones which are far superior to LTE (ever wonder why the rest of the world all has GSM & VZN & Sprint are the ONLY LTE companies?

Unless anyone has some tips on keeping my unlimited with VZN I'm off to T-Mobile this week for a NEW Note 3!!!!

LTE IS GSM.

The CDMA 4G is HSPA+. Verizon officially adopted GSM at 4G. Still has CDMA 3G radios, however.

Does anyone know how it works if I want to sell the phone right away? Do I need to activate it first? Basically I want to make sure I keep my unlimited because I got in order in during the glitch weekend, but I want to sell the phone immediately and would prefer to sell it new in box without having to go through activating it.

I get that you're trying to make a few hundred bucks, but I don't think this is possible. The phone is attached to the line you used to upgrade it with. I THINK you'll have to pay the ETF to revert to your current phone and thus lose all your profit.

Call them and say you want to order accept the terms and conditions and that should be enough. Otherwise just throw your sim in it let it activate and take it out

Your basically trying to do something that can't be done. Im quite frankly over hearing how people call Verizon and pull the "I'll switch to blah blah and save this much and ive been a customer for blah blah amount of years" the reps hear it all time. You can't keep your data, unless you bought during the glitch.

You said it yourself, that you dont go near 6gb and she offered you a good deal. Get over it and take the offer or go switch to t mobile and enjoy spotty service. I know Verizon gives bad customer service to begin with, but you aren't helping by calling and throwing a fit. No offense to you personally but enough people have done this already with no avail.

If you can't offer any help then don't reply. It's wasted space in the thread. My question was related to the original topic...I have been QUITE successful with the cable company getting what I want for what I feel is a fair price & I will continue to do so with verizon. It is quite possible someone else WAS successful doing what I'm doing...which is trying to STAY A VZN CUSTOMER for a fair deal...and may offer a solution that could help many. You never know unless you ask. If you "accept things the way they are" then they will NEVER change...

I ordered a white one during the glitch weekend as the black one was unavailable. Do you think I will have any issues with trading it in for a black one in a VZW store without messing up my unlimited data? I've heard conflicting opinions. Some say that I shouldn't have an issue taking it to the store (unopened) and doing an exchange. Others say that the upgrade is tied to the phone's ESN and that if I try and change the device, it will force me into a tier.

My initial thought was activating the phone with my GS3 sim card, waiting a couple of days to make sure my unlimited data was in tact, and then returning it to the store in exchange for a black one.

Any thoughts?

I wouldn't activate the phone if you plan on returning it. It's so much easier to trade boxes than it is to remove the white one off the account, put the black one on, and then worry about your data plan. This is just common sense talking....never know Verizon...
