This is wired,,,

I was in .29 when I tried to unlock the boot loader and got this message: "Unlock Check Fail"... so I unrooted just in case.. NOTHING..

Suddenly I got a OTA... I said GREAT !!, and found it was a .17 OTA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, so went back to scratch.

This morning I called ASUS support asking for the two issues, WHY IN THE WORLD I WAS DOWNLOADED... and WHY I CANNOT RUN THE UNLOCKER TOOL ..

The answer I got is this:

THE MOMENT I INSTALLED (not run) the tool, I acknowledged that I would not get any support from ASUS.

So... I think I lost my ASUS TF300T (unless somebody or ASUS can come with a fix for the tool as I can upgrade manually ).... and will not buy an ASUS device ever in my life.

Ugh the very reason why companies don't do us any favors like unlocking the boot loader

yep, once your 300 is unlocked, your warranty is void. no more OTA updates. No support from Asus. Also dont try to flash an official asus blob file/update or you will likely brick tablet. as this has happened on prime.

thanks for bringing this to the 300. maybe now these 300 owners can stop making threads in prime forums..lol keep up the great work.

@the person asking for touch recovery already, slow your roll jabroni..lol it'll come. be patient.

I've flashed the .29 blob file a couple times on an unlocked TF300 and it's gone through fine.

Is this working with with every firmware? I am on DE .17...

edit: Ok, it seems unlocking is not working with DE versions. But updating to newer firmwares should bring me to WW.

I have followed the steps exactly, but when I get into the menu, there is only a Wipe Data and Android in the selections, no option for USB, any ideas?

I ran the Asus unlock too, and it said it was unlocked.

Edit-I ran it again to make sure, and get "unlock check fail, keep booting" is the tool not working on the newest .29 firmware?

Hmm, I can't get ViperMod to work, it goes through the motions but doesn't do anything. It says moving firmware, then says it's done after 20 seconds, so I know it's not working. The .17 Blob is on my internal SD Card too.

Edit2-Well, it seems my device keeps going offline, so neither the manual method or the vipermod tool want to work.

what do you mean your device keeps going offline (i.e. offline as in not connected to the internet or offline as in disconnects from your pc)?
if its the first use wolfs downgrade method

If you don't want to help, fine, I'll find somebody else to assist me.

You can't use this if your bootloader isn't unlocked. When I ran the Asus unlock app on a US firmware .29 a message says on the screen THIS DEVICE IS UNLOCKED. If it does say that in your bootloader and the USB icon doesn't show up in the middle when you boot worth volume down + power while connect to your computer then you have sdk/adb issues.

no fastboot option on my tf 300

Hi all;

I followed all directions posted...but there is no usb option for me to enter fastboot. The only two options are to cold boot android or wipe data.

I have seen this in other asus machines...so my question is: is there a downloadable .apk for the recovery partition?

As written in the guide you have to unlock the bootloader first.

What about titanium backup and rom manager? Both of those have options to boot into recovery, will they work?

Great guide, I had to downgrade to .17 and factory reset to get it to unlock, but this part was pretty quick. I'm still amazed at how this stuff works even though I've done this to a few devices already. Probably because I have no clue how to do what you devs do. Keep up the great work, it's appreciated!

I haven't tested those two yet ill be testing today will post the results..



Update..... i tried rom manager and titanium back and neither of them work to reboot. Into recovery so transformer reboot to recovery is the only i have found that reboots you straight to recovery its a free app in the market
