New version added to the OP. Preload safe ROM wipe.

It formats system, data, and cache. For a FRESH install (But leaves Preload to be able to restore Samsung based backups that didn't include Preload). YOU MUST FLASH A NEW ROM, or RESTORE A BACKUP AFTER USING THIS.

I'm necro-ing this because I had forgotten how convenient it is to have something like this; was recently perusing the 9100 forums and people are always talking about hawkerpaul's wipe scripts.

Well, we have our OWN scripts, thanks to mr-cook, and there may be many who aren't familiar with these scripts.

Just used the full rom wipe script a few minutes ago (found it buried among a million other things on my SD card), and wanted to give some more thanks for providing this to us. :good:

Ok, I read this whole thread and I don't understand what "preload" is. If I have this/these files on my phone, is it just taking up space or affecting my phone's performance?

My understanding of preload-

With the update to JellyBean, Samsungs TouchWiz interface had grown to large to fit into the "factoryfs" (system) partition on the s2. Their workaround to this was to move the system apps to a previously unused partition "hidden" now dubbed "preload". To still be able to use the apps that are now located in preload, symlinks are created in the system partition. Symlinks are basically the equivalent of a shortcut in Windows. They only take up a very small amount of physical space in the system partition, but can be used to access the apps located in preload.

If you're running a Samsung based ROM you need your preload. That's where your system apps are located.

If you're running an AOSP based ROM you don't need anything in preload. If you have previously been on a Samsung based JB ROM and switched to AOSP all of the system apps from the Samsung ROM are still just sitting in preload. Hence the reason to wipe it.

Thanks for the explanation. [Q] Once the preload section is wiped is it available for other apps/data? Where does it show up??

Yes it "could" be used again, but it's not practical. Any apps that you or there would need to be symlinked to be able to access them. The reason to wipe preload while on an AOSP Rom is to make sure that there is no interference between the your new ROM and the leftover apps from your old ROM.

OP updated with New Scripts

The OP has been updated. There are a few new flashable scripts, and the current ones have been updated.
The new scripts include

- COOK'S KERNEL CLEANER which performs all the needed steps for a clean install of AJK Kernel.

- COOK'S PRELOAD WIPE it formats just the preload (incase you forgot before switching ROMs)

- COOK'S CACHE WIPE + FIX PERMISSIONS good for regular cleanings to keep things running at peak performance

- COOK'S FIX PERMISSIONS for those of you who no longer have the option in your Recovery

- COOK'S CREATE PRELOAD SYMLINKS

- COOK'S CREATE PRELOAD SYMLINKS + FIX PERMISSIONS

I tried to find a good 4.3 Rom to last until the end of my contract in November but each one I tried would have random reboots, black screens and major freezing. I was about to load stock until the end of my contract in November but decided to use your cleaners after hearing about them. It's been a week and I've been running Aocp 6.2 with AJK Kernel flawlessly. I'm not new to flashing and have always done complete wipes but your cleaner with the preload wipe worked great for me. Thanks for your work

this might be common sense but I just want to be sure, I want to do a complete fresh install (remove AJK kernel, and Cyanogen - then - reinstall AJK & Cyanogen), which scripts do I use and in what order?

Do I wipe the rom then kernel, or vise versa?

does the first wipe script remove the kernel & settings too, or just rom? it says "fresh install"?

also: the preload wipe script, will that remove the preload partition table thus giving me more internal storage?
