Chill brotha. He's asking for when it should be flashed for proper usage. Not what it is..
and its listed right there plain as day .. first post. People do need to f'n read. :)

So quick to jump on someone! Not to sound like a prick, but can't YOU read?!

I don't think he meant anything by it. Highaltitude did ask when to use it... and it couldn't be any clearer listed in the OP. Honestly... when why and how is all in the first post. If highaltitude didn't know about using it for ROMs which is a valid question.. but he did ask "when" do you use this ... and its like the third thing listed. and he wasn't even that rude about it. And also its a kernel cleaning script, not a ROM cleaning script, it says pretty clearly what it does. Sure it will work in between ROMs to clean your kernel but if your switching ROMs you wanna do a FULL wipe anyway... just sayin :)

It says right under the first part of the OP titled "what is this and what does it do?"

in the OP it also the title says Kernel Cleaning Script.
Response not reaction (if at all possible gentlemen). Here, I believe what poster was trying to say was that a general understanding, a foundation of what is actually happening when one clicks "install zip from sdcard" is a huge help towards understanding what a "script" (look it up) in particular, this script actually does Summary: Application of knowledge is where truth / power lie. Knowledge itself can be worthless ::case in point::

Bridge mending - nothing to hate about that

Well you do sound like one, I did read it and didn't say when exactly you were to use it. SO then, use it ONLY when changing kernels. So if you flash a new rom, then you do or dont use it? Only if youre running a rom, but decide to go to another kernel?

^^^^ please help us to unclog threads with posts full of pure reaction based banter this is a perfect example -(when) -anger reaction;
outcome always = post after post of mindless bull$hit

FOOD for thought folks (you will have to actually process this $hit)
Our minds and emotions ~ we run into problem when we assosciate who we are with thoughts and feelings

then these "things" (thoughts / feelings lol)
take presidence over reasoning and truly - our state of being (www.websters.com) - (look it up)

mainly b/c the ego will stop at nothing to rob you of the current moment. speaking of which... G2G lol

Yeah, funny thing is, it did not say it in those particulars when it was first posted on the 4th. Particularly the "when" SO what info you're going on in the OP is what was last edited: Last edited by jivy26; 5th January 2012 at 02:52 PM LOL

Its all good though, I know now what I was trying to find out. Still not sure I really ever need this script anyway. As I always do full wipe/clean installs unless the Devs specify that the update does not require one. I have not really had any good luck with Siyah kernel the few times I've tried it as it seemed to screw my phone up more than help it, it produces massive heat and so I probably wont go back to using it ever anyhow.

I thought i replied on the same day but fair enough. Another added benefit is for Overclockers.. I suppose the gs2 doesn't really have an issue OC'ing. But suppose you save some settings as boot and they turn out to not be stable and your phone ends up in a state unable to boot.. you could boot into recovery and flash this script to clear any bad settings. And as more people get the phone and more devs make kernels.. you'll be flashing more kernels. Not a bad safe keep.. takes up little space :)

huh, thats a good point, because if you cant boot up without issues, you can usually at least get to CWM though, so you could use the cleaner to reset. Sounds good.

Even if your unable to boot.. like bootloops or freezing.. you can still boot into recovery from the phone powered off via button combo. And from there flash the cleaner script and then your phone will boot up without problems. That's only if you boot loop or are unstable enough for the phone to boot up to change settings.
