QUOTE=siffar;21085627]Flash desi_fonts_JB.4.2.x.zip for Android 4.2.x (by ametarasu)

I was hoping that ICS will be having support for Indian languages like Panjabi but I am disappointed. Even Hindi support is in WebKit based apps and its broke in UI as well.

Since I am unable to do much in changing Android shaping engine, here is a flashable zip that installs the fonts in the /system/fonts and updates fallback_fonts.xml in /system/etc. Its better than overwriting DroidSansFallback.ttf as it does not break any other glyphs.
This will enable you to read the languages even though rendering is broke for Yuktakshars etc.

Currently it has following fonts for following languages in it -
  1. Punjabi/Panjabi
  2. Tamil
  3. Telugu
  4. Oriya
  5. Bengali
  6. Malayalam
  7. Assamese
  8. Gujarati
  9. Kannada
  10. Marathi
  11. Khmer/Cambodian

If you want to see Android supporting Indian languages as soon as possible, I request all to star and comment on this issue in Android issue tracker - http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=4153

I have only tested this on my own Google Nexus S i9023 running on ICS [Android 4.0.3]. It currently works for ICS

If you want a language in the pack, provide me font file and I will update the zip. Also if you need to type in Android use this keyboard - https://market.android.com/details?id=com.klye.ime.latin&feature=search_result[/QUOTE]

Hi friends,
I've purchased Nexus 7 (2013) yesterday and want to install kannada ttf fonts. Is it possible ? When I open a pdf documents converted from ms word, the fonts can be readable. When I open the same document as a word document, the fonts are not readable. Please guide me how to install ttf font on my Nexus 7 running kitkat 4.4.2. Thanx in advance.
Shashi

I think for that You will have to unlock your bootloader (wipes devices) and then install Custom recovery. After that flash the file in the first post. It will work,

Since it seems that you probably dont have experience for it , you should read the posts in Nexus 7 2013 forum for the steps.

it worked for me after figuring out for 2 weeks on how to install it. The instruction should be clear for beginners.

Instructions:

-Download the zip of your desired font
-Boot into recovery
-Make a nandroid backup (Optional)
-Flash the zip
-Reboot

P.S. - thank you & FYI it is working on TWRP
