CWM Recovery and Root (Stock Kernel Sony 4.2.2)(pollux_windy)

Forgive my noobness...but where do I get the original 4.2.2 boot.img from? I extracted the 4.2.2 FTF but there is no boot.img in it. On the other hand I extracted the boot.img of CM10.2 but that gets stuck on Flashing selected kernel.

Where do you get that Flashing selected kernel message? You need to "fastboot flash boot boot.img" when in fastboot mode (blue led).

I'm trying it in FlashTool. It gets stuck on sending 'boot' <10206 KB> via ADB.

PS: I also unlocked my bootloader right before this procedure. After that the tablet booted up perfectly. Then I flashed this threads boot.img and got stuck!

i assume your boot loader is unlocked
you flashed the kernel for pollux_windy on a pollux device
reboot to fastboot
place the cm boot.img in a place you remember
after that in cmd/terminal cd to the folder you have placed boot.img and do "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and u can follow the standard cm install procedure

Hi. I'm curruntly on 4.2.2 (SGP312FR). I wanted to downgrade before unlocking bootloader to backup TA, but whatever previous FTF i flash, TabZ won't boot (bootloop). Is there something I'm missing ?

Well i think my Tablets dead. Tried adb, FlashTool, Emma.....the tablet goes into Flash Mode as well as FastBoot Mode and also gets detected by Emma and FlashTool but thats about it. The moment I apply any FTF, it gets stuck at loading header. even when i try fastboot flash boot boot.img with a CM10.2 or Stock Kernel, it gets stuck on sending data. I'm not too sure but maybe I messed up the TA or something. So I guess its curtains for my Tablet. I'll be sending it over to Sony and see what they can help me out with. :crying:

Before you got it handed to Sony, try Sony PC companion Support Zone (I managed to restore my tab using this utility after I got a boot loop issue).

Mine did that. I was on 10.3.1.C.0.136 (4.2.2) and flashed back to 10.1.C.0.344. I had to flash the FTF twice for it to work. FIrst flash resulted in a boot loop. Second flash worked. So try again and see if it works.

Thank for your answer, but too late, I unlocked my bootloader... without a TA Backup. Might be helpful for others, though. Thanks again.

I have a strange problem. I unlocked my bootloader and flashed this and am now very happy with cwm! All of my apps TB, root Explorer, they all get SU question and I permit permission! So far so good! So I have root! Ol'e ol'e!

Busy box isn't and will not get itself installed!

Root checker tells me I don't have root!

Any help?

Is it possible to unlock the bootloader without using the sony tool?

I read that using the sony tool voids the warranty.

--> NO you must use sony tool. But you can relock it afterwards if you want to come back to stock kernel/rom : you must have made a backup of your TA files BEFORE UNLOCKING (need root) with this tools (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598)
