Time and time again I've seen people sleep around with different kernels and flash from kernel to kernel . In time without a good clean you will land into trouble and conflicts.

Welcome to the kernel clean clinic for those of you who flash without protection (ahem... Bob:D)

Doctor Hawker will cure many of the common issues that occur as mentioned on op.

Please use this as a first step when you encounter issues on a kernel especially if you hop onto another brand of kernel.

You will find debugging a lot easier. Trust me. :D;)

Re: [CWM UTIL] Kernel Wipe Script

I read the thread....still question...

I normally use : ultimate kernel cleaning script 2.6

This is a pretty "old" file...

This is the new update for me?

ps, i always wipe cache and dalvik by hand after flashing the .zip

The whole point is you don't need to do a whole wipe of delvik and cache?

I don't understand how you don't get that also this cleans specific folders which I belive UKCS never did where junk lies and could have led to conflicts.

All you need to do is flash this script, flash new kernel and fix permissions. That is it.

Just to clarify, you did flash the script BEFORE flashing your kernel?

Media scanning is down to your rom. You may need to flash a media scanning fix, or you may have corrupt media files causing it to loop.
You can also create dummy files called .nomedia in any folders that you want the scanner to ignore which can speed things up significantly

What is the purpose of announcing a new version if not available for download? Bit redundant don't u think?

Better announce it when ready for download? My 2 cents

    Thank you for your input!

My reason is that I would rather update the OP with any new features, so at least users will have a better understanding of what is new, rather than having the new versions available to download first, before they have been fully documented. It is much better to have this knowledge BEFORE downloading.

I'm not sure why I have to justify my reasons to anyone, but I have many threads to co-ordinate which takes up a lot of my time.
This is on top of the great deal of work that I have to put into all my scripts.
I do not have my own host site, and ApriliaM3 very kindly offered his to host all my scripts.
I send all updated files to him, and it just so happens he lives on the other side of the world to me.
He is always extremely helpful and supportive, and always updates as soon as humanly possibly.
Due to geography, and the time at which I may decide to update, the updates may go through almost instantly, or can take up to a day.
This is why I state the possible delay in post #2

I could develop these scripts for my own personal use and be done with it. I, and he, have lives, families and many other things to deal with outside of XDA so please be grateful that myself and ApriliaM3 do this for you and everyone else in the first place.
We do not do this for our own personal benefit or gain, and it gets me down sometimes when all people can contribute is negative comments especially when these people who obviously use my scripts don't even post up any thanks, not even in the OP.

Just to let you all know, I now have an S4, so I hope to get around to modifying my scripts to work on this device within the next few weeks.

As for the S2 scripts, I will keep these updated as much as possible.....I will just need to be informed by you guys as to any new files/folders that need to be wiped, bugs etc.

Thanks for using my scripts everyone. Hope they helped a few of you out.
