Reporting as promised.
Have just flashed RC1 ROM a couple of minutes ago (via CWM, wiped cache and dalvik cache) and I could say that at this exact moment there are almost (95%) no signs of any external speaker overloading. You most probably wouldn't have noticed if you didn't know what to look for. Vega and Sirius notifications mentioned previously are played back really clear even at maximum volume.
So this is definitely a software bug and I hope it's more of less fixed. Anyway, I'll be watching this issue and will come back if it returns.

BTW, wasn't your phone charging when you didn't experience crackling?

With the HP? What do you mean?
I tried both options, with and without charging: it doesn't matter, I've the crackling problem with both "configurations". It is just crackling since the RC.

I just had a complete reinstall of the RC with CWM, including a complete formating of all internal partitions. I recovered my apps with Titanium Backup, but only apps, no system settings. AND I still observe the crackling. Even with 50 % volume...

Hello everyone,
Installed this rc1 and it works like a charm!! Really thanks to developing this ROM!

After 7h (6 standby and 1h screen on) i have 87% battery, really nice!

I don't have any bug to report for now :D

Installed RC1 yesterday. I am having a huge problem with battery drain with a google service, the SystemUpdateService that is.

It was already reported on the cyanogen forums in the s3 section (can't post links yet).

Just to let people to better not update to rc1 for the moment.

Can confirm this problem on RC1. Thought it was a problem with installing the gapps, but a wiping and reflashing rom and gapps didn't change anything. Permanent partial wakelock from SystemUpdateService. Disabling WiFi, GPS or uninstalling maps or earth (as suggest in some threads from end of July which I found on Google) doesn't seem to have an influence.

Unfortunately, crackle problem is back for me as well..
I've listened to same notifications this morning and here it goes again.
Don't know what to think. Maybe I'll try these CM sounds on stock ROM and see what happens.

Should I upgrade firmware with kies before flashing roms?
I have already installed cmw, so is it possible even upgrade it anymore?
Do I have to go to stock recovery before upgrading firmware?

Current firmware version : PDA:MF5 / PHONE:MF5 / CSC:MF5 (NEE)
Latest firmware version : PDA:MH1 / PHONE:MH1 / CSC:MH3 (NEE)

You don't absolutely need to upgrade the firmware if you don't want to, other than doing it for the benefit of getting the latest modem firmware installed. When you flash stock rom using Odin, it will replace CWM with stock recovery, so that's not a problem. But you will have to reflash CWM afterwards if you are going to install CM. Also, before flashing stock rom you should wipe data in CWM, otherwise boot might hang.

Okay thanks, thought so. But I tried to install it with kies but it failed to install, so downloaded the firmware from samsung-something.com and flashed it with odin after that the kies didnt prompt for newer. After that I (ofc backuped, wiped etc.) flashed the rom and gapps, all seems fine now. Used the rc1, whats new on the nightlies?

Any news on 4.3 for this device? I had 4.3 on my zte blade 3 which i upgrade from today (payday :D). I liked the new notification drawer icons(wifi, gps etc.) but this will do just fine also.
Also this ota update thingy seems great advancement compared to blade.

Thanks for the rom btw!

RC1 is pretty good but:
1. missing FM radio
2. Still issue with camera when try click on +/- in camera setting it always fails
missing FM radio is known on CM and you can use Spirit UL: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mikersmicros.fm_unlock&hl=de
the "high" price is due to high development efforts and limited number of developers (one :cowboy:)

According to the camera issue I can confirm this. Camera crashes when trying to change exposure value settings.
