Go to about phone, click build number a couple times until it says you're now a developer, then go to developer options and disable it there. And it won't affect anything.

CM 10.1 and AOKP Reception Issues (dBm & asu)

I have tried to find information concerning this issue for sometime now, but can't seem to find any information concerning it. There may very well be, but not in a form that I recognize it as the solution or as the source of my issue...

Any time I install a CM 10.1 based rom or AOKP rom onto my GS III I747 (AT&T) they run very smooth for the most part. My only concern is that the signal fluctuates a great deal from nearly a full signal to nothing sometimes. When I go to Settings>about device>status I see a crazy dBm and asu. The dBm is around "2456543" and the asu is always "255." Before and when I return to the stock rom, the signal strength is fine and registers correct numbers. Is this a known issue, or something I am doing wrong and can correct?

Just to get a few questions out of the way, these are the steps I took to install these roms:
1 Used latest cwm;
2 formatted cache;
3 dalvik wipe
4 reset and factory wipe;
5 format system;
6 flash rom from sd card;
7 flash gapps;
8 reboot

I have even tried wiping dalvik and cache again after installing gapps, but I still get the same thing.

Swap your modem. I think LK3 is the one for AT&T but you can try some others too. Just look for the modem thread in the Dev section.

Awesome and thanks. I found the thread that you referenced... Is it just trial and error from here or is there a way to determine which modem a custom rom was build for?

Pretty much. It's quite hard to suggest modems as they act different on every phone and in every area.

I tried every modem out there and still the same issue with "23542568 dbm 255 asu" and the signal randomly drops in and out. There has to be a known cause or something I can do, huh? This is such a shame because I found the perfect cm 10.1 based rom that I want to use but I can't. There has to be a solution... Can anyone help?

I have the same issues on my AT&T S3 when I flash CM10.1 based roms. I can be 5 feet from my wifi router and only have 3/4 signal. On TouchWiz roms, I have a full signal. When I'm 15-20 feet away from the router I have 3/4 signal strength on TW roms, and 1/2 signal on CM roms. The same issue goes for my cell signal. I don't have a very strong cell signal to begin with (typically 2 sometimes 3 bars on TW roms) and it's usually at least 1 bar less on CM roms than TW roms. My bedroom is just about the farthest point in my house from the router so having a weak signal (wifi or data connection) kills my battery life overnight (at least 10%-12%) on CM roms. This happens when connected to wifi OR data and it happens on every CM rom I've flashed.
Instead of flashing a different modem, should we try flashing a different kernel?? Any other suggestions? Or is this a know performance issue in the difference between CM and TW roms?

The flickering is quite likely an issue with auto brightness. I think it's an issue even on the nexus devices. Set it at a usable level and you should be okay.
