Bug Report

Could not activate bluetooth. In the settings page it shows the message: Activating Bluetooth (in german) but nothing happens. Switiching on and off does not show any reaction. Only a reboot solved the problem.

Didn't happen before (alpha 3 till beta 2).

Will have a look at this if it occurs more often.

I also had this problem once.

[UPDATES] Vibration Bugs & 4mV

According to my previous post ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33052045&postcount=1776 ), I found out that this bugs happens even without vibrations. But its always during the sleep mode (e.g: receives sms during sleep mode)

I'm not sure if this bugs is already been fixed in beta3 but I rarely encounters this anymore (not totally gone, just less frequents).

The 4mV bugs still there tho.

Thanks. :)

Help!

Hey, I need help with my Galaxy W. I use CM9 with the actual Beta but since I have installed CM9 for the first time, the battery is a huge disaster. I have to charge it one to three times a day and I use all possibilities to save energy, for example the lowest brightness or disabling wlan, gps and others things.

That annoys me a lot and so I decided to flash it back or downgrade it to the old Android 2.3.6 or whatever is actual. I have already downloaded the right software at samfirmware but how do I flash that back??? Please help me. I want to try if the battery is better than with CM9. If not, I think of buying another phone although I do love my Wonder. And CM9 is much faster and has more cool stuff.

Or is there an alternative? What do you think about the battery problem??? Is there a chance to improve this problem??? Actually I want to go on using CM9 but I am not able to go out without recharging my battery. By the way...I do not surf all the time, I play very seldomly and I only use whatsapp and so on. Normal usage I would say.

Pls excuse my language skills, I am from Germany.

EDIT: Fashing back worked but what I am still very interested in is the battery problem. I would like to stay with CM9 but my poor nerves...

Did you wipe your battery stats via CWM when you installed beta 3 ? If not then you should do this as it may help.

I went back to stock rom though as I didn't like the ics look in messaging although the features were excellent and performance better. Although I had the Bluetooth problem others have mentioned, but restarting the phone sorted that out and not a feature I use that much, also my WiFi would turn itself off if not in use but show it was still connected which I couldn't resolve.

you should try using it for few cycles, maybe a week, then the battery will be normal.

or maybe your battery needs to be replaced?

So is it better now with GB?

Btw. Have you ever chacked if something like for example an app is not allowing the phone to lower the clock, go to suspend and deep sleep while using CM9?

nope

What do you mean with GB? Downgrading to Android 2.3.6 did not work :( No, I am back at CM9 and I have only installed Whatsapp now, which is the most important app ;) I will test it.

What do you mean with "lowering the clock" or "deep sleep"? I have never hear that.

GB = Gingerbread= 2.3.6

But if you never heard about how modern CPUs are clocked and what deep sleep is, I suggest to search the forum or google a bit first.

It´s just it might be an app causing this all by causing a lot of cpu usage and so not allowing to run at lower clockspeeds, nor going to suspend or deep sleep mode and so draining the battery very fast. Of course it´s also possible your battery is dying and need to be replaced. You can try for example Battery Monitor Widget to check your consumption.

CyanogenMod9-Bug report

The mtp bug is still present as you cannot copy medium to large size files.
There is an APN bug that appears to be independent of base band in that the system finds TMobile and puts it in the APN and this works. If I try and set Virgin media it will save and you can use but no 3g. Something else funny is if you search for mobile operators Virgin Media is not found.

On GB on start up A choice is offered of T Mobile or Virgin Mobile this I think must come from reading the Sim and it would appear CM9 does not do this?

hi,im wondering how to change font in cm9?what app i should use?don't want to get in a bootloop
tried romtoolbox but no luck
thanks in advance:fingers-crossed:
How come ROM Toolbox Lite do not work for you?

I used that and it works, I even changed my boot animation.
Someone even gave me a PM and I recommended it, and it works like a charm for him too.

And this is well known, so no need to repeat it again and again. Arco said himself this is due to the Kernel because the USB drivers are working now in legacy mode. He is already working on kernel 3.X where the usb drivers will be working in native mode and so fix this issue.

Soooo, I did it. Nor GB is working and it is doing very well. My battery is normal again.

But what could be the problem with my battery under 4.0.6? I really would like to come back to CM9 if I found out the reason...

APN and pin lock issue is fixed for next build, both CM9 and CM10.
    19
However, it works for me on RC2 (although the AP is very old — ASUS WL-500g Deluxe, Broadcom chipset, 802.11g, using WPA2-PSK). But I set it up on alpha4 and did not perform any wipes since then.

Strange, cause nothing has been changed regarding wifi between RC2 and RC3.

    cm9 RC3 can't record video using front camera..am i the only one?

Confirmed. Was caused by frame rate fix for back camera. I fixed it for front camera now, and compiled a new camera.msm7x30.so
Push it to system/lib/hw and reboot.

Preview and recording should be a lot smoother now.

    FAQ:

How can I update this ROM?
Unless exceptions aren't mentioned, you simply have to flash the latest ZIP-file of the ROM using CWM. You files should stay untouched, but still it is always recommended to make a backup.

    Does it support my language?
CyanogenMod (9) is multilingual, so it supports all common language in the world.

How can I update my basebandversion?
    a) You can flash the Baseband from here.
    or
    b) Make a Nandroid backup of your current CM9 -> wipe everything -> Flash the latest stock ROM from your region via ODIN ->
flash ClockWorkMod -> wipe everything -> flash CM9 -> restore data.

    What is CWM ?
CWM stands for ClockWorkMod. It is a custom Recovery which enables complete backups (Nandroid backup) and complete restores.
    (HowTo install)

    What are GApps?
GApps stands for GoogleApps. Google Apps = Google Play Store, Google Calender ...
Due to copyright, CyanogenMod is not allowed to implement GoogleApps directly in their ROMs, that is why you have to install it manually.

How do I install or update Google Mail?
Due to copyright, CyanogenMod is not allowed to implement Google Mail directly in their ROMs, that is why you have to install/update it manually:
Follow this link on your device and open it with the Google Play Store: click here

Where do I find the external SD on CM9 ?
The directory has changed (The following are the directories before swapping):
    external(physical) SD card: /external_sd/ or /mnt/external_sd/
internal SD card: /sdcard/ or /mnt/sdcard/

How do I swap the internal and external SD on CM9 ?
Settings -> Storage->Menu-Button->Storage configuration (a restart might be necessary)

How do I activate MTP on CM9 ?
    Settings ->Storage->Menu-Button->USB connection->mark MTP

How do I enable brightness control for the notification bar?
Settings -> System ->Status bar ->Activate brightness control
Now you can use the notification bar to control the brightness.(wipe on it left and right)
    Source

My phone restarts randomly after update?
Note: All your Data will stay untouched (Backup/Restore)
    1.Open ClockWorkMod->backup and restore->backup to externl sdcard
    2.wipe data/factory reset
3.wipe cache partition(not sure if needed)
4.install zip from sdcard->choose the latest CM9 version
    5.advanced restore from external sdcard->choose backup->Restore data
    6.reboot

The battery of my device drains rapidly fast, what can I do?
After flashing a new ROM you will have to do several(5+) charging cycle in order to get a calibrated battery.
There are also battery calibration apps, such as Battery Calibration which help you with the battery calibration. Long story short: Be patient.

My Data connections / Adding APNs doesn't work, what can I do?
It is a known bug in (Alpha 1). Flash this zip to solve this bug.

What is a funny SIM card ?
A funny SIM card, is a SIM card which provides GSM connection, but does not let you enable data connection, because APNs can't be added.(only on CyanogenMod)Flash this zip to solve this bug.
