There is an app on play store called mediaserver killer. That does the same thing, and it works
This solved the problem!! 5.1 from Cyanogenmod 12.1 (nigthly last version)

I have 2 camera, aosp (camera and video more captibilyties) and google camera 2.1.042 (for photo sphere and panoramic)

It didn't work for me :(
I am sure that the problem is not hardware related because I made a test making a backup then factory resetting my phone, with a fresh installation the camera worked nicely but when I restored my backup it stopped again.

It didn't worked. I think that my problem is not related to this.
Did you mean restore apps using 'Titanium Backup' or restore previous rom?
1. Several case caused by conflict from 2 or more camera apps installed (camera 360, B612 Selfie, etc)
2. General issue caused by 'mediaserver' won't killed/restart immediately

it was a restore from previous rom (which is the same btw). If it is a conflict from 2 camera apps, uninstalling the non standard camera app may solve the issue? I will need to go the titanium backup route but the last time I used it some games weren't totally restored (aka lost my saves).
