Hi,

I want to install Cynogenmod 10.1. The CM official page has the instructions and assumes the devices to have UCKK4.
But my device version is UCKF1. Can I still go ahead and install CM10.1 on it? If not, could someone please directly me to a page detailing how to how to upgrade from UCKF1 to UCKK4?

Current Device Details:
Phone: :Samsung Captivate (AT&T version):
Firmware: 2.3.3
Baseband version: I897UCKF1
Kernal version: 2.6.35.7-i897UCKF1-CL273832

UCKF1 is fine as well, you simply need to be on GB bootloaders.

Make sure to follow the FULL instructions.

Captivate network error

Hi,

I flashed cm 10.1(which is awesome) but now the problem seems that the phone does not catch the network when I am inside my house. I changed the sim and put it to another phone. It works fine . but only Captivate the problem is there . I tried with other sims too .. but same problem happens.

I jus dont know where the problem lies .. Help will be appreciated

cell data network loads are always changing. some days/hours I get data indoors strong, other times weak. I've seen my speed go from 6 Mbps to 2Mbps in a matter of minutes, then back to 6. And occasionally, no data connection for a while. This has been true to varying degrees for froyo, gb, and to a lesser extent for jb roms. if snything, cm10.1 has been more stable and reliable.

When you lost data signal in your house, did you try rebooting?

hardware problem seems unlikely because it coincided with flashing the new rom.

if the phone reception worked better with an earlier rom, you could try extracting the file radio/modem.bin from that old rom and copying it to your phone with the new rom.
make a backup of the current modem.bin file first.

switch the phone to airplane mode when copying the new file over the old one. make sure permissions are 755 on the file (rwe, re, re). exit airplane mode, reboot.

Hi, Thanks for that . It worked .. but with the cm 10.1 the phone gets switched off automatically. I have Keep Alive app but still it gets switched off.

not the software.

the phone's manufacturing date. the date the physical hardware was assembled and shipped from the samsung factory. NOT the software date.

got it?

it is on a label under the battery. you need to power down the phone, remove the battery and read the printed label.

some early build captivates have a hardware problem management. that is why I am asking.

Seems like you might be affected by it. 1009 is quite a old build and wouldn't surprise me if that's where the issue is coming from.

Although, you can try different settings or even different ROM/kernel to see if the problem persist.
