I just figured i would try to open the zip files and it says the zip files are bad. Now that i found a md5 checker i see that the hash does not match. So either something went wrong with the download or the file on the server is different.
the hash i get for file : philz_touch_6.41.6-d2lte.zip.md5 is 7316c74c8f64ce97eb6ef47fdc48b76c It is listed as: 7dfc8be28d7b19a3c19de25c92e6fc47
the hash i get for file: philz_touch_6.48.4-d2lte.zip is 4d7 whatever it is listed as: 508d8b5b6c394be29f2347fdedb7da72

For good measure i have deleted and downloaded these two files 3x I havent checked the file every time but i have attempted to install and it has not worked.

What are you installing it with?
For Odin use the one that ends in ".tar.md5"

And if you flash another kernel you'll have rotation problems. That's already been well established with the L710T. Keep the stock kernel.

My ROM: WICKED X
This is a tar for the Model L710T works like a charm.Been tested I use it because I keep trying all Roms to see what works.Works for Virgin mobile Boost Mobile and Sprint.Sorry if I clogged up this post.
Sorry I quoted the wrong post.

I was trying to use clockwork. I switched to twrp but i hear this one has less issues. Assuming i can find a good download. With the download not matching the file on server i think it answeres why the zip i have been downloading is corrupt / unopenable.
I normally mess around with my phone while i am at work ( 12 hours of monitoring firewalls does not take much effort ) which means that i don't have a way to connect a computer to the phone ( workstations are very locked down. I cant even change the dam background ).

There is a Philz 6.57.5 build for d2lte that is floating around. I did a backup with it tonight with no problems. I need my phone tomorrow morning for work. After that I will try flashing a LP Rom and eventually restoring my backup of TW Tribute. The only problem I noticed upon doing the Backup is that the final compression % and Backup size show as 0, but the Backup seems to be a reasonable size. This build is supposed to work better with LP Roms. I have not had any problems with the version posted here but it has been a long time since a new build has appeared. I know that Phil has stopped development in this but there are several builds that were done after the last one shown here. Maybe if it turns out this new build is OK, which I suspect that it is, someone might post a link to it here in this thread if that is OK.

Personally. I see no need to switch back to TWRP until I have to. I used to use TWRP and loved it, but I read about too many problems with it all the time. I realize that LP may mean that Philz no longer works, but I don't think that time has come yet.

Maybe someone will build 6.59.0 for the S3 while Philz Recovery still has a useful life.

I had a problem with Backup and Restore on the new one I switched back. I would personally only use it to flash Lollipop and use the old version of Philz when using TouchWiz. It didn't restore properly and then when I went back to recovery the backup was gone.

Good info. I think I will flash back to my original and do another backup and then flash the new one and see if it can restore each backup. My backup is on the SD card according to Root Explorer and it is about the right size.

I will be cautious on this...

Thanks for the info.

Wish that lollipop was fixed man its smooth lol.Every time I flash one my backups never work trying from lollipop I have to odin back to stock reroot then restore my backups on any recovery version.Yes it sucks lol
Ok then it was probably LP... Lollipop encrypts data on your internal SD, I just wiped that and flashed my ROM... The build I tried there weren't very many problems... found it on G+, Android Ice Cold Project.

Team Octos is working on a L710T and L710 OctoL 5.0 rom currently still in private testing they don't want to publicly release it till 90-100% of the bugs are gone lol but i have tested some of their builds and they run freaking fast last one i tried was 6 weeks ago, have to go back and see what they have fixed :)

I ran into this too but the quick fix for this without Odin is to do your normal full wipe and be sure and format your internal SD before flashing or restoring anything

Short answer is: I AGREE! THANK YOU JESUS I FINALLY GOT MY BACKUP RESTORED!

I am not sure I can remember everything that I did to get my backup from noon today restored, but it was a PITA.

I did not have to use ODIN, which is good because my port is about shot.

I finally installed am old Wicked-X zip. Then wiped that and restored my Tribute backup using the older recovery.

Thank you, Ryan. Because of your advice I made a backup with the old recovery today. If I had not I am pretty sure I would have had to flash a zip and start over.

It might be related to TW Roms only, not sure, but it is tricky.

I think you are right that it is best to use the new Philz for testing LP and not for backing up.
