Here you go, guys, the stock Generic BR FTF, firmware 17.1.A.2.55 - Link

Thanks for the Vivo FTF, @sighted and Gilson Cristo, I've updated the OP.

Anybody out there with Z2s from other carriers, let us know the Customization Number and we'll try to upload their respective FTFs as well.
Thank you mate! I found this topic after search for an unbranded BR rom. So, just for curiosity, you have a Z2 BR unbranded and made a dump from this ROM, right? If yes, just for precautio, I can do the same with mine, save the ROM file and if something goes wrong, reverse to Vivo ROM.

I'm asking that because the previous ROM's that I've found in the internet are custom ROMS, and I don't want to loose the DRM and other things with this kind of ROM.

Tks,

Marcelo.

Very nice thread.

I want to buy a Z2 but the overheating problems are leaving me in doubt.
And I always look in the xda before make a decision.
What you guys can say about this problems in the BR version?

Hello guys,

I have a Sony Xperia Z2 D6543, did the update with another firmware and my phone changed to D6503 version, the device works perfectly, however I lost the function of Digital TV, would like to have the function back, however I found the Brazilian room .

I hope you can help us.

The unit is working very well with the room with the D6503'm 17.1.1.A1.0.402 version.

Wait for new releases

Greetings!
This is very nice to hear.
I thought it would ruin the device.

I think that is not that simple, but did you try to use the TV apk from brazilian version?
I think this will require the drivers from BR version.

Sorry for my bad english.

It appears that the overheat problem occurs when you save the video in the main memory. I brought a class 10 SD card (to record HD movies, not 4K) and works like a charm: no heat problems so far: but I noticed that you need to format the card to avoid some glitches while recording: my old device was a S4 and the card was formatted using fat32. When I inserted it in the Z2 and start to record some movies (using the auto settings) I noticed some lag... And no way that I can write in the card through PC: got some "error writing to media". After formatted the card using format tools in Z2 storage options, no problems so far.

Could be a coincidence, I don't know, but, fixed my overheating and movie recording problems.

Yes, I have an unbranded BR Z2, and I used Apollo89's method for creating this FTF (found here)

If I could suggest something, I'd advice you to root your device and install [NUT]'s XZDualRecovery (the latest version uses the Easy Root Tool by zxz0O0 to install root and the custom recovery at the same time) and use one of the two recoveries available (I use TWRP) to create a Nandroid Backup, that is a full backup of your smartphone's system, data and so on - If, God forbids, something goes wrong you can just reinstall this recovery and restore that nandroid backup, and your device will be just as it was when you performed you backup (with all apps, data and so on as it was).

Now, just to clear up, custom ROMs based on Sony's stock firmwares do not require you to unlock your bootloader, only custom Kernel and custom ROMs based on AOSP require you to do so. Another good thing about rooting your device is that you can backup you TA Partition, which includes all DRM keys specific for your device (and yours alone), so that you can re-lock your bootloader should you wish to do so in the future.

If you need more details, just ask.

Like MarcSant said, the overheating usually only happens when recording heavy videos, such as in 4K resolution (which I personally consider it a marketing gimmick, since you'll always need a 4K TV or monitor to view those videos). I've recorded a couple of videos in Full HD at 60 fps and a couple more with Timeshift (720p at 120 fps) and I've had no overheating at all.

Hell, I can personally assure you that my Z2's battery has never even once reached more than 40.5 °C, not while watching videos, playing games, using the camera, etc. - I monitor it with Battery Monitor Widget Pro - and, even though it measures battery temperature and not CPU temperature, it is a pretty good reference point. Now, the only time I imagine it heats up a little is when it is performing a Nandroid Backup (since the Android system is not active when on recovery, it is impossible to know the temperature value without an external tempeture sensor like those pistols that can "see" the infrared pattern of things). And even at this point, I can honestly say that my Z2 does not heats up nearly as much as my ZQ (ZL) used to (when I booted up after performing the nandroid backup, the ZQ was easily above 50 °C).

The only thing I'm really worried about with our Brazilian Z2 are the updates - while most of the world is on 17.1.1.A.0.402 firmware, ours is still at the 17.1.A.2.55. But that can be dealt with if you don't worry about DTV, like me.

Alright, so, If I don't want to root my device, just replace the branded rom with this unbranded ones, the partition that you told will not be lost, right? And the future OTA updates will came, as normally occurs in the branded rom?

I just want to get rid off Vivo's customization, keeping the device "original" as I got it from a store like Fastshop, or another one... I'm just not comfortable to deal with rooting my device.... Maybe in the near future, who knows?

Exactly, the TA partition will not be lost, it will stay there all pretty and untouched. And yes, OTA updates will come just as normally as SONY releases them.

The big problem with the updates on unbranded firmwares is that it requires Sony Brasil to release them, which does not always occurs as it should. On the ZQ, it took Sony Brasil more than a month to release the latest 4.4.2 update after all four carriers released their branded version - the Brazilian unbranded 4.4.2 update was released two months after the European unbranded releases. On the other hand, the Brazilian unbranded 4.3 update was the very first firmware to be released worldwide. I guess it depends on Sony Brasil's mood...

Fantastic! If I will not loose the DRM, Radio, TV and get rid off Vivo's customization, I will give a shot! I'm searching the links posted and it appears that I can save my Vivo Firmware...

Thanks mate for the answers! In a few minutes I will go to home and try this.

Regards,

Marcelo.

Hi guys, just bought my Xperia Z2. Waiting it to be delivered. I've been away from android custom roms since my Motorola Milestone. Can anyone explain what is this TA partition? This DRM keys are for what?
Thanks everyone.

I was worried about what many people said that when they only opened the camera and stayed for a few minutes changing the configs the camera app closed.
Other said that can film only 20 or 30 minutes with 720p and the camera app closed.

You can see more on this thread on forum Adrenaline:
http://adrenaline.uol.com.br/forum/showthread.php?t=512950

I don't know if is it related to the firmware.
Because of this I'm happy that we can use internacional firmwares.

But according to what you are saying this problem does not seem to occur in your Z2.

If we discover what is needed to make the TV works on BR firmware, someone can port this to internacional firmwares.

Thanks everyone.
DRM stands for "Digital Rights Management" and is basically a digital fingerprint that ties your smartphone to your IMEI in an encrypted matter in order to "protect" certain content from being copied. The DRM keys are stored in the TA partition of every Xperia device and are used by some Sony apps to ID your device (TrackID is one of those apps).

I'm summarizing a lot of information here, but pretty much every Sony smartphone has a locked bootloader out of the box, which means that each one has its very own and unique DRM keys. Attempting to use one device's DRM keys on another will brick such device, as the DRM keys won't match that device's IMEI.

Now, when someone unlocks a device's bootloader, it forfeits these DRM keys, as if saying "I don't want to have them on my device". By doing so, the user can flash a custom (unsecure) Kernel or a custom ROM, be it Sony-based or AOSP (Android Open-Source Project).

The big thing we need to keep in mind here is that Sony, while supporting the modding community, allows you to unlock your bootloader if you want to, supplying you with the codes you'll need to do so. However, since unlocking a bootloader allows you to basically do whatever you want with your device, including messing it up beyond repair, your warranty is pretty much void if you unlock it.

By keeping your TA partition backed-up somewhere you can revert the bootloader to its original status (re-lock it), should you ever want or need to do so. But you'll need to root your smartphone in order to create that backup (by rooting a smartphone you can have a program access that TA partition and perform that backup), and rooting your smartphone does not voids your warranty.

You can use PC Companion's restore option, but it will take a while downloading the firmware each time and will definitely wipe your device clean.

If you already have a FTF ready you can just flash it on FlashTools without changing any option (just select the FTF and hit the Flash button). It will flash the firmware and completely clean your device as well, but it won't need to download anything.

If you just want to clean up the modifications you've made, you can use FlashTools and uncheck the wipe options - this way your data and apps will be kept as they are and your internal SD card won't be wiped either.

Someone has tested the root method from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783750?

Just in case, because I´m going to buy Brazilian Z2 only if could root the device without loosing DRM specs. I´m now on a Brazilian Z1 and it is a perfect device since I have root privileges.
I used this method on my ZQ, but on my Z2 I used Easy Root Tool and it worked perfectly - one click root without the need to reboot or anything. Easy rooting in here as well.

You mean this method thread? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784900) There is no flag for D6543 model, you could message the OP there for confirming your device is also rooted.

Thank you, ordered today:good: ...e haja $$$$ (R$1983,30)
