Thank you mate! I found this topic after search for an unbranded BR rom. So, just for curiosity, you have a Z2 BR unbranded and made a dump from this ROM, right? If yes, just for precautio, I can do the same with mine, save the ROM file and if something goes wrong, reverse to Vivo ROM.
I'm asking that because the previous ROM's that I've found in the internet are custom ROMS, and I don't want to loose the DRM and other things with this kind of ROM.
Tks,
Marcelo.
Yes, I have an unbranded BR Z2, and I used Apollo89's method for creating this FTF (found
here)
If I could suggest something, I'd advice you to root your device and install [NUT]'s
XZDualRecovery (the latest version uses the
Easy Root Tool by zxz0O0 to install root and the custom recovery at the same time) and use one of the two recoveries available (I use TWRP) to create a
Nandroid Backup, that is a full backup of your smartphone's system, data and so on - If, God forbids, something goes wrong you can just reinstall this recovery and restore that nandroid backup, and your device will be just as it was when you performed you backup (with all apps, data and so on as it was).
Now, just to clear up, custom ROMs
based on Sony's stock firmwares
do not require you to unlock your bootloader, only custom Kernel and custom ROMs based on AOSP require you to do so. Another good thing about rooting your device is that you can backup you TA Partition, which includes all DRM keys specific for your device (and yours alone), so that you can re-lock your bootloader should you wish to do so in the future.
If you need more details, just ask.
Very nice thread.
I want to buy a Z2 but the overheating problems are leaving me in doubt.
And I always look in the xda before make a decision.
What you guys can say about this problems in the BR version?
This is very nice to hear.
I thought it would ruin the device.
I think that is not that simple, but did you try to use the TV apk from brazilian version?
I think this will require the drivers from BR version.
Sorry for my bad english.
Like MarcSant said, the overheating usually only happens when recording heavy videos, such as in 4K resolution (which I personally consider it a marketing gimmick, since you'll always need a 4K TV or monitor to view those videos). I've recorded a couple of videos in Full HD at 60 fps and a couple more with Timeshift (720p at 120 fps) and I've had no overheating at all.
Hell, I can personally assure you that my Z2's battery has never even once reached more than 40.5 °C, not while watching videos, playing games, using the camera, etc. - I monitor it with Battery Monitor Widget Pro - and, even though it measures
battery temperature and not
CPU temperature, it is a pretty good reference point. Now, the only time I
imagine it heats up a little is when it is performing a Nandroid Backup (since the Android system is not active when on recovery, it is impossible to know the temperature value without an external tempeture sensor like those pistols that can "see" the infrared pattern of things). And even at this point, I can honestly say that my Z2
does not heats up nearly as much as my ZQ (ZL) used to (when I booted up after performing the nandroid backup, the ZQ was easily above 50 °C).
The only thing I'm really worried about with our Brazilian Z2 are the updates - while most of the world is on 17.1.1.A.0.402 firmware, ours is still at the 17.1.A.2.55. But that can be dealt with if you don't worry about DTV, like me.
