if you have the ftf, just flash the kernel.sin without wiping anything

the phone itself isn't too slow, but you can tell there is lag, and camera is unbearable...

if you flashed the kernel from the first post, you will need to flash the stock kernel after relock the bootloader

Thanks again for the help. I flashed the stock kernel and kept the bootloader unlocked thus kept my root. It is much improved. No noticeable lag as far as apps and launcher are concerned. If I hadn't seen how blazing fast the camera opened and functioned yesterday I wouldn't think twice about that either......having said that it is way faster and totally acceptable. You should do it.

And I should add, thank you very much to the OP. It's hard to live without root!

i just finished downloading the ftf, and flashed the kernel only. all the lags are gone... so if anyone looks for root, flash the adv kernel from post #1, flash the SuperSU package, then flash the stock kernel (!) again.

I can't boot into recovery anymore.

EDIT- Tried updating with Rom Manager and reboot from there.. Must need Demons kernel to run CWM.

No this won't work for tablet... But if you are interested to unlock bootloader of tablet then I can create a recovery kernel for testing...

you flashed the stock kernel, that replaced the CWM recovery with the stock one.

Yeah of course. I was tired last night, brain not functioning.

Basically the only reason I "need" root is to run the Xposed Module and gravity box. And that's basically the only thing I can't install. I get an error. Might try to reflash Dooms Kernel and install just to see what happens.

Wasn't GravityBox incompatible with vendor modified ROMs, like Xperia one?

Cant you people try a qucick fix option

Unlock bootloader- reboot ( it will wipe data)- flash advanced stock kernel v2 by doomlord ( thanks to the great dev)- reboot into recovery- flash latest super user zip( now you are rooted)- reboot phone, and check root.- lock the bootloader ( now you will be softbricked, becoz u are using custom kernel) - now using flashtool, flash the stock kernel ( remb not to wipe anything, also dont flash system and data partitions). Reboot and enjoy a stock rooted firmware. ( possibly u dont have lags now)

I'm not sure the reason for your post. You've outlined the exact steps myself and clueless have already taken with v1 of the kernel. We both are enjoying a rooted Z2 with no lag because we did reflash the stock kernel afterwards. My question to clueless was about v2 and whether it fixed the lag present in v1.

with the v2 kernel, the lag is still present, but not really noticeable, much much faster than v1; however, the device does run warmer and battery drain faster than on stock (3% per hour on stock vs 11% per hour on v2, both time on completely new flashed system including data wipe).
