Yeah. I have been googling it for sometime now. All results pointed to "24-bit Hi-Fi DAC" no branding. So I was just wondering why HTC doesn't mention it. V10 has bragged it has ESS Sabre 9018C2M. Is there a way we can confirm this by running an app and showing all the details.

Hey can any of you audiophiles suggest a good pair of headphones that don't cost $3 or $4 Hundo? Do they have to be a special kind? I read something about hi-def but I just don't know enough.

I use Audio-Technica ATH-IM02, and it's great.
Would recommend to anybody who wants good sound quality headphones.

ATH-M50x is the way to go if you value sound quality for all genres. Every audiophile would recommend those without hesitation. Best bang for buck balanced headphones for under $200. You can do more research on them if you do not believe me.

Sony MDR-V6 is cheaper than most of the ones mentioned so far, and they're the ones that the sound engineer who recorded and mixed the music you're listening to probably used.

But, the DSP on the 10 should be able to do a decent job compensating for differences in frequency response. Check out the difference in harmonic distortion between the two (Flatter line outside of the spike at 500Hz is better).

Knowing your price range, music styles, and style headphone you like would make it easier.

For over-ear closed-back headhones around 100 bucks ATH-M50X
For over-ear open-back headphones around 100 bucks Sennheiser HD-598 or Grado SR-80i
For in-ear around 100 Sony XBAH1
If you want to go cheaper:
Beyerdynamic DTX 350p

These are my current heapdhones:
hifiman re400 $80
fostex t50rp mk3 $150

HTC really needs to come clean on the DAC usedin the HTC 10. I have the LG V10 also, and LG has not been shy about what DAC and AMP they used. Is there no way to find out using software?

I'm betting the 820 with EQ tweaks. Otherwise they would shout from the mountaintop about the DAC hardware.
