And just in the extremely unlikely case you wonder why:

Non-working search

+ non-working understaffed moderation
+ intentionally crippled report post functionality
+ sticking the head into the sand
== generally unproductive environment where signal/noise ratio really is completely outside of acceptable bounds. Also, total failure to get priorities straight here.

To sum this short and bumpy ride up - I do not feel like wasting more time on a forum that has lost its focus and considers a productive development environment, working search and working moderation to be less important than implementing retarded Facebook buttons, sorry.

So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish!

I didn't really want to address this, but I think you're being unfair in your claims.

Search: believe or not, we have over 98% uptime for search. That's pretty impressive considering that there are around 100 searches per second. We do the absolute best we can and understand that search is critical. Remember that you can always use the Google search at the top of the site. That has 100% uptime.

Understaffed moderation: XDA is one of the biggest forums on the planet. We have 100+ mods, all that work as volunteers because they love being a part of the site. We're not perfect, and we're constantly having discussions on how to improve or our processes. Could we have 500 moderators instead of a bit over 100? Sure! But at the point, it becomes difficult to communicate.

Too tempting to log back in after logging out?
Self contol is an alternative option to a prema-ban or account deletion.
Not really. Users keep sending me PMs with support questions. It is just confusing them to see me as active member.

admin, kindly proceed and close the account.

I don't really understand people like the OP. If you don't like a site and have nothing constructive to add then simply leave. Maybe I'm being harsh but its the truth, xda will live on no matter what ;)

I think he made it pretty clear. he asked to have is acct closed, stated his reasons and has asked admin to allow other users to take over his threads allowing for continued development.
And if you deny that xda has had problems lately, then you really haven't been doing your job as moderator as the admin himself as admitted they are working on the problem.
