How To Guide Debloat LISTS - S22 Ultra Series

Search This thread
I debloated everything in the list provided by OP, screen refresh is capped at 60Hz, most apps are in the deep sleep mode, power save is on, display is set to HD+(lowes), nothing is always on, auto sync is off, processing speed is optimized, adaptive battery on...

And I hardly notice any difference.
Wut?
How much time has passed since debloating to notice a difference? Also, I've had better battery life with Adaptive battery OFF rather than on.

After debloating, you should always boot to recovery, wipe cache partition, and then repair apps.

Sorry, adaptive battery was off for most of the day; turned it on just to see how it went. Time, about 24 hours. I rebooted but didn't clear the cache on all apps (not rooted so I'd have to do each one individually). Also, how do you repair apps?

You don't need to be rooted. To boot into recovery mode, hold down the volume up and power button until you see the Samsung come on the screen, release the power button and keep the volume up pressed, it will then boot into recovery mode. Scroll down to Wipe cache partition using the volume down key and select it with the power button then choose yes. After, scroll all the way down to repair apps. Profit. It will reboot automatically when you're done.

Does Alliance Shield do everything that one can do with ADB AppControl? I'm just looking for a way to debloat straight from the phone as I travel a lot and prefer making adjustments on the fly. Anyone know of any other alternatives that works even better other than Alliance- please share.

Yes, and even more, you can set a firewall to any app and it'll block access to data or wifi, I love that feature. You can change a lot of settings for a specific app with Alliance. You can also pay for package disabler pro but I have no experience with that.

Hey everyone, figure i start a thread on apps/etc that can be safely disabled, so that we can dial on on removing needless junk from our phones.

I am currently running a Snapdragon S22 Ultra, SM-S908U 512GB (AT&T variant) so my list may vary versus other Snapdragon variants.

LIST BELOW, this is for SnapDragon users. There are some AT&T apps other Snapdragon uses will not have, each carrier has their own bloatware added. I may have missed a few or have a few added you may not have.

If you own a Verizon, T-Mobile, or Unlocked S22 Ultra, please PM me with a list of your running processes and i will attempt to create a minimalist list for each Snapdragon variant.

This is a work in progress; your feedback helps, as does that of any others with more experience or knowledge to share!

Your battery life will differ from mine depending on your preferences.

I have battery saving on, 70% max CPU speed on, 720p, fixed 60hz, 85% max charge, and some other misc tweaks i would be happy to share. I will update this post with all settings maxxed out in a few days (by end of March)

Instructions
Use ADB AppControl for ease of use, and simply create a text file in your ADB AppControl/presets folder and copy these entries and save as txt.
Enable USB debugging on your S22 Ultra
Load up ADB AppControl, on PC, connect S22 Ultra and connect in 'Cable Charging' mode.
Follow instructions to correctly connect your S22 Ultra (easy walkthrough, only needs to be done once)
Once connected properly, hit 'Load Preset' and load the txt file you made
Click dropdown in bottom right and hit APPLY

This list DISABLES Chrome, Google Assistant, DeX, Edge screen, ALL AT&T crap, ALL gaming related crap, PenUP, S-health, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, and some other minor 'features'. All are easily restored and i will separate this list with descriptors in a few days.

Oof, I'm not sure what I debloated, but now my screen turns off after 5 seconds 😅. Doesn't even dim, just off. Mobile data doesn't work, asks for me to insert sim. And tap to wake doesn't work either. I buggered something up.

Time to factory reset to see if that helps.

Like the one that Kris posted? I'd open that in Excel, delete the ones I want to keep and copy the 'uninstall' or 'disable' column into a text file.

This list is awesome - to be honest im purely interested in uninstalling the verizon apps like verizon app manager and my verizon but dont know if that would cause an impact since i bought my S22ultra from verizon. I wasnt able to find any lists online so i was going to post here. Unless you happen to have another amazing list?

Are you using ADB Control App? Once you connect your phone, the list will populate with all the system apps on your phone, it will have an official name and a package name, you can then literally check and uncheck whatever apps you want to disable and boom.

Uninstalling carrier apps will not impact your phone, unless those apps have features you want. Instead of disabling all AT&T apps which I could easily do, I just flashed the unlocked firmware so I don't have to deal with it at all. I have AT&T.

everything is in this thread, just start from the beginning and you will find this one:

Samsung Verizon Bloatware

  • vcast.mediamanager | Verizon Cloud
  • samsung.vmmhux
  • vzw.hss.myverizon | My Verizon
  • asurion.android.verizon.vms | Digital Secure
  • motricity.verizon.ssodownloadable | Verizon Login
  • vzw.hs.android.modlite | Verizon Tones
  • samsung.vvm | Visual Voicemail
  • vznavigator.[You_Model_Here]| VZ Navigator

I'm not saying you should delete or disable all of these. I did this for ATT stuff and it worked.

This is a good list. I have over 200+ apps disabled and my phone is flying 😁. Getting about 10% drain per hour pretty accurately. If I've used 30 percent of batttey, my SOT is 3 hours. If I used 55 percent, my SOT is 5 and a half hours. I'm pretty content with this. Means I get a full 8 hours from 100%-20%. But I only charge to 85% so the most I can get is 6 and a half hours SOT if my battery depletes to 20%. On some days I get an extra half an hour if I don't play any games or use any heavy ram-hogging apps.

Used this same link after resetting back to factory and most everything works fine now. Only 2 issues:
1. Playstore won't ETA me install Google maps.
2. I can't send image files through text (Google messages)
If anyone knows why, please feel free to tell me what I messed up (again)!

For 2., go into google messages settings>settings>chat features and make sure they are enabled.

They are, already checked to make sure.

And it was supposed to say Play store won't let me install Google maps. Also changed keyboards because Samsung's default is trash imo.

Edit: cleared cache on playstore, same results.

Those lists are pretty aggressive and remove tons of features folks might use. Folks, don't just blindly use those without checking and knowing what you're removing. :)
    8
Here is a good list that I found, on the s21 ultra forums:

This guy also has a thread on how to do an aggressive debloat and some settings to use to crank up battery life.

    8
Here's a full list of Samsung system apps that tells you the package name, what it does, and if it is safe to remove so you can decide for yourself. I don't remember who shared this but I saved it.
