Defy CM9/10 MTP USB Connectivity Problem

Hi,

I've been experimenting with CM9/10 builds on my Defy. Most things work well but I've been experiencing a problem with USB connectivity. USB connections to a pc work correctly in 'Memory Card Access' and 'Charge Only' modes but fail in 'Portal & Tools' mode. When 'Portal & Tools' is selected then from some reason the MTP Driver fails to install correctly it reports and error 'Code 10' [This device cannot start].

I'm fairly certain this is a CM9/10 problem. I can successfully connect a 'standard' Defy in 'Portal and Tools' mode and likewise a Motorola Xoom. The problem seems specific to CM9/10 builds.

I've looked elsewhere and tried all the suggestions for updating/selecting the driver using Device Manager. I've also tried with USB debugging enabled and disabled - this doesn't affect the symptoms.

Is this a known problem/limitation with CM9/10?

I'd be interested to hear from you if you're experiencing a similar problem or have any ideas about fixing this.

Many thanks.

Now tried this with both Epsylon and Quarx CM10 builds and with Froyo and GB Kernels. Symptoms of problem same with each configuration. USB will connect in 'Charge Only' and 'Memory Card Access' modes but will not connect in 'Portal & Tools' mode. MTP device driver fails to install.

If you're able to successfully use 'Portal and Tools' mode with CM10 with a USB connection to Windows 7 it'd be great if you could post a quick reply to this thread. It'll help me understand if the problem is special to my configuration or something more general to do with CM9/10 builds and Windows 7.

Many thanks.
