Hi all,

After a trusty year of service, my Defy decided to stop working. The earphone mic problem (that can be found elsewhere on the forum) reared its ugly head. The device was sent back for repair under guarantee. The company doing the repairs managed to loose the device and will be refunding the original value of the device. So now I'm in the market for a replacement. IP67(ish) Android devices being a strong preference, I won't mind getting one of the Defy clones again. Maybe the Defy XT is a possibility, but reading that ICS will maybe remain out for it is a little sad. The Xperia Go looks reasonable, except for the poor screen resolution and mineral glass. Dual core, 8GB on board and wet screen touch and ICS in the future adds quite a bit of sugar, though. Any other options? The phone must be half decent, so no Defy mini class devices like the samsung or HTC.

Well in all honesty, there are many devices out there you could get but if you want an ip67 certified device and you have mentioned a few.

But if you want the dev support that we have on our device, I don't think that you will get that with other models.

We have a stable CM10 two weeks after its announced. It's really great. Even a lot of high end devices don't have support like we do.

This is probably due to it being the first decent android phone to market with ip67 cert.

Why not just stick with the defy and get the defy+ or the defy xt

Defy+ is definitely an option. Defy XT maybe also, but whether it'll have similar support to the Defy+ is still open to discussion. How long will the N95 be acceptable while I wait for the XT?

XT is different than defy & defy+.
There is no dev support for it yet and with the locked bl, there's little chance of that..
So I'd say, go for Defy+ if you like.

And being a bit (gotta stay pc) of a light weight successor it brings little extra to the table other than big promises over battery life we know so well. The Defy+ is also 100 euro cheaper than the Sony... The question is how much does the low res get to one? The other specs are pretty juicy!

Aha! That Sony is a serious option. At first I thought it was meant to complete my sentence. That is why I mentioned Huawei.

How do you guys feel about the xperia mini pro? Looks like it's got solid hardware in a nice small size (maybe too small?). And ICS too. anyone know if it'll get JB (official) as well? I think i still prefer the size and aesthetics of the defy, but the sony could be a good replacement when my earpiece goes (again)

Also, does it work on US T-mobile or At&T?
