Second, the flash is the hot melt in the back cover, so use the blade to slowly cut off the three gel-point, and then remove the flash PCB assembly (be careful not to cut around to the back cover or may not waterproof)

Since it is not even a year since this phone released, why dont all of you who have a burnt LED give back your device and claim it under warranty?.
You would get a new device right. Its easy to restore whatever rom you came from.

I was going through build.prop for some thing else and noticed these settings on my 3.4.2-145 build.

ro.media.capture.flashIntensity=41
ro.media.capture.torchIntensity=25

What are these set to for the Chinese ROM?

So there is no solution for the green/weak flash light problem?
I not think , my phone has been sent to the Motorola Technical Service by the famous problem of the speaker (in calls) and also by the flash camera.

In 15 days say it will be repaired, I will write here.

Sorry for my english.

Yesterday I looked my LED under a microscope and unfortunately there were some brown spots on it. I compared it to a working LED and as you may think it hadn't any brown spots... So I guess it is really burnt :(

I installed the original firmware and sent it back to be repaired. I'm waiting only for an official update now :rolleyes:

I'm not sure why everybody speaks of undowngreadable... I have installed this ROM and then flashed back the original 2.21.0 (DE, AT, CH) - MotoBlur sbf from here with RSDLite. Everything went ok.

I have to say I'm not an expert. I cannot promise this will work on your phone too.

My LED flash died as well and yes, I did mess with the earlier Chinese Froyo ROMs so that might have caused the issue.

Before the flash completely died, I noticed it going out of sync with the camera.

Fortunately, I didn't have to wait for weeks to get my repaired Defy back. They got me a replacement within a day.

My flashlight was OK on Pays Rom 4.1 but i figured that it was weak, reflashed original Eclair 2.1 and now its very weak, barely can see it on video camera, and the photo camera it flashes but only a weak light that cant light up nothing. And when i tried to turn it on using an app (Flashlighter) it went very very weak and only a small brown point turned on. Did i break my flashlight?

The LED light was not designed to be used as anything other than a camera flash. Using it as a flashlight may well have broken it.

Hm. That said, the video recording feature has a button to toggle the LED, which would contradict my above statement :)
