Holy crap, yes

Thank you so much, Meti for releasing this :D I held up to my promise and I haven't upgraded a single one of my devices as I was waiting for this to come out, but I can't update my GPlayer until the morning, until then, I hate to not be able to just trial and error like everyone else, but, what exactly is wrong with this rom that doesn't recommend us using it as a daily driver?

As always, amazing job, Meticulus. There really isn't anything I can say. I am very grateful to you guys for supporting old devices. Not just the Galaxy Player 5.0, but for the Galaxy Exhibit and Sero 7 Pro, too. Keep up the good work! :D

If I am from Gingerbread 2.3, I cannot just flash directly to 5.0.1, correct? Can I just root, go directly to Kitkat, and then flash Lollipop?

Make sure you have Entropy512's Daily Drivers Kernel installed. Afterwards, go and flash 4.3 SlimBean from Meticulus Development's site. You can find their site in my signature. The kernel is included with the SlimBean flashable package, so flash that and you have ClockWork Mod 6. Now, just flash the newest stable build of Carbon ROM on Meticulus' site (also has kernel built into flashable package.). It should give you LVM. Now, you can finally get Lollipop! :D

By the way, if you need more in - depth help, you can go on their site and they will have very detailed instructions for getting 4.4 (it will probably be called "BeanStalk Installation for Galaxy Player 5.0 or something, but the instructions work for all KitKat ROMs).

While editing build.prop, CM suddenly wiped my build.prop. I decided to reboot to recovery to wipe and install back the ROM, but it's not installing. How do I fix this?

NEW BUILD!

  1. Sepolicy: enforcing
  2. Wifi working
  3. SD Cards mount but... only accessible via root browser.

Warning: In order to get wifi working, and because the size of the Android Lollipop/CM 12 ramdisks have grown a little, I have had to remove the recovery that used to be built into the kernel. So, if you are not careful you can end up in a situation where you do not have any recovery at all. If you are going to flash this build, ensure that you have flashed my TWRP alternative recovery and that it works before proceeding.

Dev Note: I'm having a difficult time with the SD cards. There is some sort of permissions issue that does not allow apps to see them. :silly:

Can someone try a "soft reboot" from the advanced reboot menu and see if that fixes sdcards?

EDIT: I just tried it and it worked! After a normal boot enable "advanced reboot menu" in developer options and do a "soft reboot" both sdcards work! A good workaround for now... ;)

This thread seems to have died for a few days, so I'll revive it and say that I'm definitely enjoying this rom even though its in a serious state of Alpha right now xD Keep up the good word Meti, you seriously don't know how grateful I am to have you here on these threads, especially since my Droid DNA doesn't have a MicroSD card slot. My Galaxy Player is my main device for listening to music on, and its only been that useful to me because of people like you who keep it alive. Thanks dude! :highfive:

NEW BUILD!

  1. Internal and External SD Cards fixed
  2. Switched to userdebug builds instead of eng ( much less lag, no more red frame )

Now that sdcards are working I see that the cameras are not functional at all. :(
