Hey Everyone, this is my first Thread and first post :). I'm disappointed that no one has actually helped upload the DELL PC SUITE, I tried getting it so many times, and was only able to get it after using Opera, anyway here is the link I uploaded:

hotfile_.com/dl/82048490/70efa28/Updated_Dell_Streak_PC_Sync_Tool_(clair_2.1).zip.html (Not letting me upload external links so just copy the link and remove the _ after 'hotfile')

To members with high ranks and posts, please comment and confirm (after you try it first) that it works and that it's not infected or anything like that, so Other members can trust this link...

Success thanks to Zarbo, and many others :)

Thanks for this, downloaded completed and after plugging the Streak in, its syncing :D

Its also syncing Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Notes. I thought Android couldnt sync Tasks and Notes. I'm grinning now hee.

Thanks again for all your help.

Hope the update to 2.2 will not kill the sync... strange why Dell would do such a thing :(

You're welcome everybody.

BTW if you go to the update option on the dell streak you'll notice that the page has changed, yeah they have updated their servers, probably preparing for big bandwidth suggesting the official 2.2 update for the streak will be out soon :)

I'm using LXdroid 0.2 is there one we can use with custom rom's? I got Dell PC Suite but nothing shows up, tried downloading the eclair version and it said only dell devices were supported then stopped installation, my rom version is 2.3.7

There is no version for custom ROMs and never will be. Not to mention the software is totally unnecessary, even if you were still on a stock ROM.

He's done so little research and reading he has no idea the difference between Eclaire Android 1.6 and the LX DROID. 2 ROM... WHERE do you begin trying to help someone that hasn't even done that much?

I know the difference dude, far from a newb here man. So excuse me if me I jump in head first and learn better that way than from reading a multitude of documents!

Or did ya just ever so kindly ignore my post saying I tried it cause it was the closest BUILD MATCH? Gotta love that SELECTIVE READING!

But anyways I just hoping to play around with the PC Suite some...

Remembered using it when I had the Steak 7.

Well, I have the Froyo version of the suite. I think I still have it for download from mediafire, but you'd have to hack the software to bypass the official version check. Even then it may not work. But for a thought exercise it sounds intriguing.

Going to chime in: cdzo, you really should should phrase your responses better.
Even if he does in fact not really know what he's doing, that tone isnt what xda is about (my opinion, i am not a mod as far as the forums are concerned)

But he is correct: build-wise eclair and froyo are entirely different beasts with regards to the sync software. They're completely incompatable.

Only the 3xx (froyo) roms support sync as far as recent roms are concerned. GB roms are not supported, and only stock 3xx roms are supported. Dont expect it to work on any custom froyo based roms either.

Desktop syncing isnt standardized at all for android, so dell wrote their own desktop syncer and modified the stock apps to be able to sync.
You must use the matching rom and syncer, dell made versions available for 1.6/2.1/2.2 and that's it.

To repeat: as dell made changes to the rom to support it, it will never work outside a stock rom that hasnt had it's stock apps modified.
You can (possibly) hack it back into a newer rom, but it's a lot of work for a no-longer supported tool

even if it is supported.. i just seem cant find when to use it... mostly because of the android application used had that covered pretty much every aspect ... and usually in a better way...

All I can say is that there was a version designed for 3xx, and that's about it.

I've never tried it, I do have copies of it if dell doesnt have a copy anymore.
