KitKat kernel source for 3830 is available on Dell's open source site.

http://opensource.dell.com/releases/Venue_7_3730_CloverTrail_plus/

For some reason dell uploaded 3830 kitkat kernel source to 3730 folder, none the less the source is for 3830. The source has no information on how to compile it, some info found in source isn't correct.

The source does compile a working kernel, it took me two days 20 compiles to figure everything out. I use the built kernel as a daily driver.

The built kernel is fast and smooth, seems better than the kernel that dell included with kitkat upgrade.

Anyway good luck.

Could you please upload the compiled kernel .
I want to test it , though it's a while since the thread was out there .
You are about two years too late, if the source is still available you can build your own, if not you are out of luck, I got rid of that tablet a longtime ago.

Thks for the link, aparently all source files are online at link, i found the “A195/dell_venue_kernel.tgz". I'll try to follow the tutorial in "OSS_A195.pdf" and build the kernel when i'm vacations.

But,
why has nobody tried to compile a new rom? do we need something else?

Knock yourself out, most of us don't have this tablet anymore.
