Does anyone know if it's safe to take the "Samsung Kids Installer SEP" update that's been nagging users for about two weeks? It seems like a system update, so I'm not sure if that could interact badly with all the mods in DeluxeROM.

Guys I am still using Dr Ketans Rom and relatively happy with it. The featureset and customizations were always perfect for me, but sadly the developer abandoned it so no more security updates etc. Has anyone migrated from Dr Ketans to Deluxe ROM and have any feedback to share. Or even if you haven't actually used his ROM but have a good understanding of the differences between various ROMS for our N950's, would you say it's definitely worth switching to a ROM like Deluxe, and if so why ?

I understand comparing ROMs is usually a question that is frowned upon, but since development for Dr Ketan's ROM is halted, it is not really a competing product any longer so I imagine it is OK to ask. Thank for any replies

Also want to know how to deal with this.. It seems to be affecting all Samsung-based ROMs for our device.

DeluxeROM development has also stopped, which you can see by looking through the last few pages of this forum.

I don't know Dr. Ketan's ROM, so I can't compare.

The 3G Networks are going to be taken down. This is unfortunate because although this phone has 4G, I often must use 3G because the service is bad out here. Does anyone know a good phone I could switch to that would be the closest to this phone with this rom?

If you don't have good enough LTE service in your area, are you sure you're going to have enough 5G service for any phone to work after 3G is retired? From what I've read, LTE will still be our best bet for fringe areas. The rural rollout of low and mid band 5G might take years, and it won't really provide much advantage over LTE. Most of the hoopla surrounding 5G's high speeds is only to be realized in metropolitan areas, where carriers will bother putting up towers every thousand feet.

I live in the rural USA, and I'm on an AT&T MVNO. DeluxeROM provides an AT&T compatible VoLTE when using the UK's "BTU" CSC, so I plan to keep this great phone and DeluxeROM for years.

I didn't follow this thread for a while, as I thought that v30 is the latest version. What a great surprise to see that there's a version 32!
I'm still on v30. May I flash the latest version over v30 without a wipe?
Thanks again!

You may flash v32 over v30 without wiping.

This information was easy to find by looking back a few pages in this thread, to the developer's last two posts of #3,717 and #3,743.

Thanks, @MarkerB!
Yes, I read his posts, but actually, he wrote that it's safe to flash v31 over v30, and v32 over v31. Thus, I wasn't sure if I can flash from v30 to v32, or if I have to flash v31 in between.
Thanks for your help, I really appreciate that.

I see. You said you hadn't been following this thread, so I assumed you hadn't read any of the new stuff. You also only asked about wiping, so I didn't think to address skipping the intervening v31.

Since the ROM's god-like creator AbrahamGC doesn't seem to be very active, I'll just speculate here. I think these are minor enough updates that you wouldn't need to flash the intervening v31. As always, make a backup before any update.

By golly, I love this ROM so much.

Does anyone know how to make the stock icons on the status bar smaller?? Is there an option for that?
The icons on my status bar look huge

Yes. It's in the "DRC" app. You have to find the smaller ones of the many available under "Menu > Status bar > Icons and colors"
Screenshot_20220523-150749_Firefox.jpg

As you can see that one icon is bigger than others. How can I make it small I tried looking for it

Hey is it possible to restore backup from old DRC backup? Or would it mess up?
I've never tried to back up for restore the DRC settings. Why would you think it was broken?

You do understand that DRC backups are only for the UI settings that DRC controls, right? It's not a full phone backup and restore. If you want that, you'll need to use TWRP's backup and restore.

No nothing is broken in fact I enjoyed my last DRC settings for the ROM so I thought it would be possible to restore those ROM settings since they are relatively similar.

So maybe back up what you have now, and try to restore from your old one? You can always go back to where you are now.

That is true! I am going to try that! Thanks and as for the icons some appear to be bigger than othera on the status bar. I mean the stock icons on the status bar. Is there a way to make it smaller??

    FAQ

DO NOT REPORT BUGS OR TRY TO GET ASSISTANCE WHILE USING MODDED VERSIONS USUALLY MADE BY KANGERS LIKE @mpal AND OTHER 4PDA MEMBERS.

    - What's dual statusbar (DSB) ?
+ The mod consists on duplicate the statusbar size and unlock more "positions" on "Statusbar views position" on DRC. This will give us more space to place our views like carrier, network speedmeter, batteries, icons, etc ...

    - How can I activate dual statusbar ?
+ Once you flashed the ROM, you have a zip on the internal memory called DUAL_SB. This zip will detect which statusbar you have and change it. So it's valid too to revert dual to single.

    - Why the statusbar custom background takes some time to be shown after a reboot ?
+ This happens only with images (not colors nor gradient), and it have a reason, when the device is booting, the UI can't access to your internal memory (for security reasons), so, when the mod tries to load the image, it fails. On the past this give us a headache with force-closes and not showing images. Now it simply will load it when the system sends the flag BOOT_COMPLETED. How much time it takes ? Not much really, from 10 seconds up to 1:30min.

    - Where I can find backgrounds that fits with dual statusbar ?
+ We added a folder on your internal memory called DLX_BGS with more than 50 designs. If is not enough, you can always use any other image...

    - Why I can't enter to the sub-screens on DRC ?
+ The statusbar views have a "master" preference called "Icons hidden", ALL the icons picked here won't be visible on the statusbar and the sub-screens will be disabled (why would we edit preferences without show the view ?). Don't forget to un-hide before edit them.

    - DRC needs root and busybox to work ?
+ No. ONLY the kernel configurations needs root and busybox (both).

    - I need mTweaks to configure DeluxeKernel ?
+ NO. You have a screen on DRC to configure it, so, don't use other apps while you're on this kernel.

    - I switched to permissive but it doesn't change.
+ First of all check root and busybox, if they are ok wait few minutes. Sometimes magisk is slow to grant the root. This applies to all kernel configurations.

    - I rebooted and I'm again on enforcing SELinux.
+ The boot is always with the default values, and as the statusbar, when the flag BOOT_COMPLETED is sent, kernel configurations are applied.

    - If I flash another kernel, will DRC override kernel configurations ?
+ No, if is not the kernel provided, DRC won't show you the preferences related and won't apply them, so you can still using the app provided (usually) with the kernel.

    - Double tap to wake doesn't works as expected with AOD.
+ Known issue, but no solution for now. (AOD have already a double tap to wake with the home button without press it, maybe is enough with it ;) )

    - What's the "Fingerprint wake-on" exactly ?
+ I made it thinking on the S7 where the user needs to press the button to wake-up the screen, but is good for us if we don't want to wast battery with the sensor. If it's disabled, fingerprint stills working, but won't wake up the device.
